Your experience using fetal dopplers?

I am picking up my fetal doppler (rental) tonight and it just struck me how nervous I am… What if I can’t find the heartbeat?
I feel kind of panic-stricken at the thought of trying to find my baby’s heartbeat tonight.
FYI I am 16 weeks (tomorrow) and I have heart the heartbeat before at 9 weeks and 12 weeks.
What are your experiences doing it yourself with a doppler? I am nervous I won’t find it and go into full-blown panic mode. How easy was it for you? Did it take a while to learn how to find it? Any tips/experiences welcome.

i rented one from babybeat. it worked great. i found the heartbeat everytime. it depends on what kind and how far along u are. the ones from walmart dont even work at 28 weeks so i wouldnt get that one. it was differnent places where i would find my babys heartbeat becausee he grew and was always moving. i sent mine back when he started moving all the time.
i never got one, I thought that it was more special waiting until my next appointment to hear my baby. but good luck it shouldnt be hard to find his or her beat.
also, another reason why i didnt get one was because what about if I didnt hear the baby in one of the times I tried? it would drive me crazy!!! And sometimes that can happen!
i rented from babybeat.com and LOVE it! worth every penny…we found the heart beat in the 9th week and everyday or so since then. if you dont find it in the beginning, take it to your doc and they can help teach you to use it.
