Would you suggest a fetal doppler?

I am a worry wart - always worried my baby’s heart stopped beating. I heard it on the ultrasound at 8w4d - then on doppler at 9w4d - I am now 11w4d. I am thinking of renting a 3 MHz doppler - the same as they use at the doctor’s office. Did anyone do this? Did it add to your stress or take away from it?

I chose not to get one so I wouldn’t stress more, because what if you can’t find the heartbeat yourself? That would be tough, and everything could be just fine. Or what if you count off, and it seems like the heartbeat is too fast or slow, etc. I tried to listen to my feelings and relax. Deep down it’s like you really do know if it’s okay or not.
i didnt get one or ne heart monitor, went to the dr for ultra sounds, and soon long as i felt him kick i was good
I’m getting one. I got one off ebay and its the same kind they rent. it was only $66 and it detects the heartbeat from 10-12 weeks. I’m waiting for it to get here this week. I’m only 8 weeks 5 days, but hopefully if I’m lucky I will get to here is sooner. I think it would be a great idea, cause you can hear the heart beat anytime you want without going to the dr’s.
I’m with you on this one. I always worry too. I’ve looked into getting a doppler, trying to hold out until the next month when I should be able to hear it with a stethascope (as per my dr). I say if you are so worried, go for it. Stress can affect the baby. But try not to stress about the stress! ha GOOD LUCK!
I bought one on ebay but same thing. I actually got a 2 MHz one b/c I read that in later pregnancy the 2MHz works better than the 3, but I am sure either one is gonna sound the same. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!! It was such a stress reliever to be able to hear my little guy whenever I wanted to. I HIGHLY recomend it. No regrets and well worth the money. I paid $150 for mine!
I found one at a garage sale (I don’t know how this compares to ones you rent at the hospital), which suggested being at least 20 weeks before you could hear it. It took me until I was 22 weeks before I finally found it on my own. It was nerve racking, I didn’t know if the heart beat stopped or if I just wasn’t hearing it for those few weeks. But now that I know I can hear it, it does help soothe me. It depends and I would ask your dr. about what he/she suggests.
I rented one and I have only used it acouple times…I thought I’d use it daily but I just figure if the baby’s moving everything is fine
I just try not to worry so much, though it’s hard because it’s 4 weeks between appointments! But after hearing the heart beat twice and seeing it once, I’m fairly content at 17 weeks. Especially since I can feel his little flutters.
I wouldn’t get one though, because they’re too expensive. I just don’t have that kind of money to waste. I’d get one if I could afford it because it’d just be neat to be able to listen to it whenever you want. I got my Mom to record the heartbeat at my last doppler so it’s on her phone. =] So cute.
I rented a medical grade one, and it was great. I think the problem that causes so much stress is women who get them and don’t find out how to use them; if you get one, take it with you to your doctor and they’ll be more than happy to show you the best way to use it. It may seem easy, but most women can’t get it right on their own which causes stress and paranoia that the baby’s heart simply isn’t beating. For my husband and I, it was a great investment. He listened to her every night before he went to bed, and I liked having the ability to check on her if I ever felt worried. So for us, it took away a ton of stress, but that’s because we learned how to use it.
My husband bought a fetal heart monitor from Babies R Us when I was pregnant. We didn’t realize at the time that the doppler kind was commercially available or I would have LOVED to had one. It would have been a great comfort to me.
I rented mine from storkradio.com for only 20.00 a month. It works great. I had 3 miscarriages so this was a must have for me. Good luck.
I have one…I have only just began to hear the heartbeat on my own and I am 21 weeks. I bought one on ebay for $85.00…it was cheaper than renting one.
