Yes, that is correct. Anywhere from 120-180 is a normal fetal heart rate for baby. Anything above 180 or below 120 is abnormal and the doctor would need to do testing to figure out why the baby's heart rate is like that.

Well im 18 weeks and mine is usually 150bmp average. =] Just make sure when you get your doppler you scan the whole tummy from below belly button especially just abouve your pelvic bone, i was always getting confused with the placentas beat which sounds like whoosh whoosh or could soud like a drum but is only 1 beat every 1 or 2 seconds..
..Bubs one sounds more like a galloping horse or like a train... once you find it youll def know its that you cant miss it.

Hope ive helped =]

Your right, 120bpm - 180 bpm is totally normal. I'm having a little boy and his heart rate has always been right about 163 bpm.

Anything from 100-20 is considered ok, however they want it to be between 120-170. I was hooked up to a monitor for the last week of my pregnancy b/c of my baby having heart rate issues. They do not like it to get below 120, however the nurses did not rush in until it got below 100. I finally had to deliver 11 weeks early b/c my baby baseline was around 150, but he kept dropping into the 70s and then shooting up to the 180s.

The reason that your midwife doesn't want you to get one is b/c it is normal for baby's heart rate to drop down or get pretty high for very short periods of time. It freaks mom's out when they hear it and they don't want you stressing for no need, so keep that in mind. Mine kept going down for 2-3 minutes at a time. Listen for recreational purposes only don't sit there and time them all the time or you will freak out :) Best of luck!
