It was very easy to find her heartbeat the first time we used it at 12 weeks (but I've heard you can hear the heartbeat with this monitor as early as 10 weeks). I use it when I get up and when we go to bed at night...I love the reassurance it gives me. I am not even sure where you rent them from. I hope someone gives you the answer, if not you'll have to google it. But non of the ones from the store or worth a damn honestly.
