I have heard they are safe but a waste of money cause by the time your 20 weeks you should be feeling your LO move to give you piece of mind. Also if you do purchase one best not to use it more than once a week.

No danger, but at 17 weeks you probably won't hear anything and might not hear anything up until the very end of your pregnancy. They are not medical quality. I got one and only ever heard the heart beat 3x.

Hi,
I used one of these and they can cause you more panic, as sometimes you cant pick up the heart beat and you go into a mental panic to get to the DR to be told your babe is in a awkward position and they find it straight away with there's!
There is no danger of using them as they hospital i was in with my son used them alot, i had my baby checked 3 times a day.
But be prepared to pay alot for one as the cheaper ones don't work very well until your much futher along, and even then they can be a tad shady :)

There are no dangers.
I borrowed one from a friend when I was pregnant. I forgot what brand it was, but she got it off the internet. I started using it at 14 weeks and I could hear my baby's heartbeat perfectly fine!
I used it daily :)

I rented one instead of buying, cause they are costly... Around 500.00 plus... There is a company called Dynamic Doppler, and I found them to be the cheapest monthly wise... I pay $22.00 a month... it is free shipping, and then when you want to send it back they send you a box that is fully paid for to ship it back to them... I actually use mine every night before bed... I love to listen to my baby girl's heartbeat <3<3<3 the doppler picked her heartbeat up at 10 weeks... Good luck and congrats~!!!
