I was at my midwife appointment yesterday for my 34 week appointment and the fetal doppler picked up two separate heart beats - one in my lower pelvic region toward the right and the other on my lower left rib cage. She put the doppler back on my lower right pelvic region and still heard the heart beat there afterward, so it didn’t move. Could this mean twins?
Thanks for your input everyone. I did have an ultrasound at 18 weeks which officially showed one baby, but then the ultrasound had what looked to have a been a second umbilical cord in the background. Whether one was hiding behind the other, I really couldn’t say and nor could the professionals.

This is my first pregnancy. I popped out at 17 weeks, and have been measuring about 2 to 3 cm larger every visit with my midwife and they’ve only picked up one heart beat until just yesterday, when they found two - which is why I suppose they had no concerns previously (that, and the 18 week ultrasound only showing one). I know it’s unlikely they missed one but the midwife is sending me in for another ultrasound this monday to confirm everything.

Just wondering what you all thought - thank you.
