twin missed at 8 week ultrasound?

I know I have seen this question asked a million times, but I have to ask it again. I am 14 weeks pregnant, and had a U/S at 8 weeks,(with an outdated machine my HCG level was 145,000 however only saw 1 baby, however on the fetal doppler now we are hearing two separate heart beats. 1 is 138 and the 2nd is 157. I won’t have another U/S until 21 weeks, and my uterus is already at my belly button…
Just looking for some experiences from other women who got a surprise at 21 weeks…..
No, I don’t have two dopplers unfortunately and I didn’t think about that.
And, I have two Corpus luteum cysts.

I didn’t have an early ultrasound scan with my twins, so the first I knew was when I had my scan at 20 weeks.
That said though, for some reason my mum ‘knew’ I was having twins, and asked me to ask the midwife to check for 2 heartbeats when she did the doppler at 16 weeks. She did look but only found one.
It is possible at 8 weeks to miss one, as that early on you really don’t see much.
I would urge you to visit the midwife and mention the 2 separate heart rates and ask if there’s any way you can have another scan to confirm rather than waiting until 20 weeks.

I would definitely say twins if there’s 2 heart beats… the other baby is just smaller to see.. Congrats
It’s possible. I wouldn’t count on it until you have the U/S and it’s confirmed. You could be hearing the same baby’s heartbeat when it’s resting and then when it’s moving around. Unless you have two dopplers and are listening to the two heartbeats simultaneously…then I’d be more likely to say you’re probably right.
I didn’t have it personally,
but my grandmother did when she was pregnant with my mom and my aunt.
They didn’t find the twin until about 7 months.
Sometimes one twin can hide behind the other, making it seem like their is only one baby.
Her grandmother had twins and one hid behind the other, the clue there is grandmother. These days twins cannot hide, iy may have been an outdated machine but it can’t be that bad.
However, at 8 weeks it may have been overlooked and the only sure way you are going to know is if you have another U/S.
Your uterus wouldn’t be that high with one at 14 weeks, mine came to my belly button at around 15 with the twins.
