To all women who answered the Heat beat question?
There was just a question asked about how early the heart beat can be detected and quite a few said the heart beat can be heard at 9 weeks at the earliest. Do you mean with a fetal doppler (heart monitor) or at an ultrasound scan or did you not go for your first scan till you were 9 weeks? Because i went for an ultrasound scan when i was 6 weeks exactly and i heard my baby’s heart beat, it was strong and 167 beats per minute so it must be possible to hear the heart beat earlier than 9 weeks!

Although I didn’t answer the previous question I can tell you that you are right it can be picked up before 9 weeks. Using a doppler it is pretty unlikely to hear or find one that early and is even hard to hear at 12 weeks! Although, generally you can pick up a heartbeat on an ultrasound at around 6 weeks although for some it is later.
You can hear the heartbeat with ultrasound at 6 weeks, but the doppler is 8 to 10 weeks.
My daughter was 10 weeks and they found it within seconds.
