Just the reassurance we needed

Reviewer: Tommo,
We purchased this product after suffering a missed miscarriage. Upon conceiving again, my wife was finding it extremely difficult to relax and enjoy the pregnancy. We invested in the Doppler in the hopes that we would be able to pick up the baby's heart beat whenever we needed a bit of reassurance. The machine has never disappointed us. From the first day we received it at about 13 weeks of pregnancy, we have been able to pick up our baby's heart beat. We find all the other sounds comforting too. I would caution that should the baby be hiding, then a lack of heart beat could be distressing, but this has never been a problem for us. Do have patience though, as the end of the probe has to be tilted in the exact direction of the baby's heart to work properly. Sometimes even a fraction of a millimeter movement in any direction can pick the little one up. Also be aware of which heart beat belongs to the baby, as the machine does pick up your own pulse as well.
The baby will beat at between 120 and 160 ish and sounds more like horses galloping. It is worth the extra few pounds to get the machine with the digital display as you can be more certain you are infact listening to your baby.
Overall, this is the best money we have spent so far this pregnancy. You can't put a price on peace of mind.
easy and reliable. Value for money

Reviewer: Zoe Lehmann,
I bought this for my second pregnancy, having had a cheap version for the first. The cheap one would take several minutes to find the baby's heartbeat, and only worked after about sixteen weeks. This one picks up the baby's heartbeat almost instantly, and has done since I was twelve weeks. The heart rate display is also a great help, as it makes it much easier to be sure that you have the baby's heartbeat and not your own.
I wasn't quite convinced about the cost of this doppler at first, but having used a cheap one, and seeing the difference, this is definitely worth the extra money.
great !

It totally worth the money. It's so comforting and reassuring to hear our little baby's heart beat whenever we want. I first heard it at 11 weeks.
The probe also works under water so it's perfect for waterbirth. And I also got in the price a tube of ultrasound contact gel.

Arrived promptly. Great doppler was used right from 11 weeks although auscultation (listening to baby's heart) much easier from 14 weeks. Also came with gel, which was great I hadn't expected a bottle. Very pleased with purchase.

This is quite a useful product in an economical version. The unit itself isn't very robust, but it works reasonably. Expect a certain amount of interference while trying to listen to baby's heartbeat. The manual was translated into English, which makes it a little difficult to follow, but with persistence, it is manageable. In addition, there are 3 operating modes and it is easy to be misled by the display count, if you are not clear in which mode you are operating the device. Rather irritatingly, the cable slips out of the socket in the device rather easily.
