Question for anyone having a BOY ! See inside …?
ok im 25 expecting my 1st in March 20, 2009. I am currently 1 day shy of 22 weeks.
My coworker is about 35 weeks, 24 years old, due Dec. 19, 2008.
We are both expecting boys.
I personally questioned her about her baby fetal movements. She states she really doesnt feel him move much i mean yes there is movement but not much of it, all is good in her pregnancy he is even face down already.
I am not feeling any movements, i had an appt. Oct. 21 to find out sex, all was fine and we heard heart beat and baby was active but i admit drinking soda to make him move to find ou sex then on Oct. 29 i heard the heart beat via Doppler, doctor said i should feel movement in a week or so to not stress. I am now a day shy of 22 weeks and still no movement, or nothing that i think its baby related because i get gassy but i can tell difference, believe me. I am not a small frame girl neither i am about 5′4 and pre-pregnancy weighed 180ish. Now im at or about 197ish more or less.
I am barely showing, well i do hide it since i just started a 12 week job but many friends and family are concerned i am not feeling movement, should i be or should i go to ER and say i dont feel good to see if things okay or should i wait until my next doc. appt. which due to my doc. leaving the office is now pushed from Nov. 29th to Dec. 19.
In other words, anyone expecting a boy, take them a while to feel their baby boy move compared to a girl pregnancy. I hear girls are super move active.
Can someone share their expierence, im seriousl kinda worried or ready to be super worried if i dont feel anything soon.

goodness me! Your poor baby isnt born yet, and already your worrying about him compared to other peoples kids!!
Remember this is your baby, and like adults, every baby is different! Some kick lots and are super active, some are calm and quiet.. it just depends…
Theres no biological evidence to show about how much girls and boys kick, however it really really just depends on your kid! Maybe he is just not going to be a terribly active baby…
Please dont worry about this … if its your first baby you are likely to feel the baby move later - i would check the gassy feeling though - thats what i felt at first, and actually i thought i could tell the difference too..
Actually im 32 weeks now, and the baby is super crazy, but i didnt feel much until around 20 weeks … its nothing to do with your frame! If the doctor says the baby is ok, then why are you worried?! Please dont go to A and E just for a check up - this is a terrible thing to do if your fine and you may endanger someone else in the process ….
Try some practical things instead - lie down for a while every day, in quiet, either sleeping and just relaxing, and focus on your baby. When your moving around all day its really hard to feel kicks etc, but baby gets more active when your relaxed … this is the best time to notice it. Also lying on your side can help too…
Some people find the baby moves lots in the bath, or if they drink some cold or hot drink and of course soda too … but limit it!
I know its tempting to ask other people, but dont do it! Youll just worry yourself more, instead read up on it in baby books etc, find out about normal timeframes - this isnt a race!!! Plus you have enough time to be making comparisons AFTER your babies born!
PLEASE RELAX!! stop worrying - you will feel it in your own time!
:o)
i didnt feel my last baby which was a boy move till i was 23 weeks so your fine, and i didn’t start showing with him till i was 6 months, but everything is fine, no need to go to the ER or stress your self, if something was wrong the Dr wouldv’e told u when u went,
With my son I didn’t feel movement until 23 weeks, but if your concerned see the doctor on call.
95% percent of people on their first pregnancies do not feel any movement until week 25, sometimes later!! Don’t worry, it is normal, with my 1st I didn’t show until 6 months!
the sex of the baby has nothing to do with movements.. i have 2 boys and am expecting another.. this kid doesnt sit still.. my first one on the other hand never really moved.. it will come eventually..
I can’t remember when I felt my son move but I know he was already turned because I felt everything in my ribs. I very small though and lost all my pregnancy weight about 4days later. I don’t know if being bigger makes a difference. If ultrasounds show everything to be fine then you shouldn’t be worried.
I honestly can’t remember how active my son was since it was 13 years ago and many people might say it’s because of your weight but don’t listen to them. I am 8 weeks pregnant and I weigh 170 but i also wear a size 11 just like marilyn monroe. I gain pounds not inches. But anyway I can tell you how to get him moving, drink some orange juice and lay on your side and he should start moving or even do that after dinner. Can you let me know if it helps. I used to have to do that for kick counts.
I had the smae thing do not worry its that your baby sleeps well you move and wakes up when you are asleep
Worrying makes you well…….
But I am shaw you should go to a doctor
Tell the doctor about it and see what the matter is.

Looking back in my pregnancy journal, it seems I did not feel any movement until almost 6 months! I knew everything was fine because all the US scans and heartbeat was also good. I do remember feeling worried because I hadn’t felt anything. But, once I did… there was no stopping him!
I was also told that my placenta had formed right under my bellybutton, so there was a lot of extra "cushioning" I guess between my belly and my baby, which would explain why I didn’t feel anything for a long time. I had a 4D scan done at 24 weeks, and at that point I still hadn’t felt the baby.
I’m sure your baby boy is just fine. You are not alone!! Congrats!!
PS. I wanted a girl, but to my surprise, I am having the BEST time with a boy and wouldn’t trade him for anything. You are going to have so much fun!
I had a boy….didn’t feel him much until later in my 6th month…..and I was about your weight as well a little shorter…..shortly after I started feeling him move I was able to see him move…..thats by far the coolest thing you will ever see! you feel it just dont think about it too much and it will just happen outta the blue!
Sometimes, you might not know what to expect for the feeling. It can be anything like a whisper of a butterfly flutter, all the way to "Wow-it felt like I got kicked in the ribs".
At this stage, you’re probably just not aware that you are feeling him. He’s still pretty small! If you’d felt him before, and haven’t now, then I’d be worried. If you begin to run a fever, spot, bleed, or extreme nausea, then go to the ER, but I bet you’re fine. It’s a little harder for us bigger girls to feel the baby. Some women take a little longer to slow down and feel the baby. Since your doctor wasn’t worried, I wouldn’t be either. Wait another week, and if your doctor is out, or you get scared for any reason, then go in. Good luck!
You are fine, I had a boy and didnt start feeling movement until around then. And the only time I felt it at first was everytime I got out of the shower and laid down on the bed he would move a couple of times. The further along I got he started moving more. Every pregnancy is different, boy or girl, 1st 2nd or 5th child, no pregnancy is the same.
My first son— i was 16 when i found out i was pregnant with him. He didn’t move hardly at all. I felt him around 5 months for maybe a month after that i didn’t feel him move at all.. i had to drink sodas and eat chocolate before going in to get an ultrasound or a non stress test because he wouldn’t move but his heartbeat was fine. Now i am preg with my second son and i am 30 weeks pregnant and he wont stop moving. Just when you go to your ob next time have the doc check the heart beat just to help you out with knowing your baby is okay. Good luck and congrats
my baby’s pretty active now, i think i started feeling him wiggle low in my abdomen around 20 weeks, and now I’m 32.5, and he won’t stop kicking me in the ribs! I’m about the same build as you too. he could be moving, but maybe your placenta is in the front so you can’t feel it. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, just make a note of it at your next appointment if, by then, you still haven’t felt any movement.
I felt my son at 16 weeks. I was 117 and 5′5. I didn’t gain any weight until 21 weeks and until that point I was still flat.
I have read the normal time for first time mothers to feel their baby is between 18-22 weeks so you are still within the normal.
I hope you get to feel the little booger soon!
Fetal movement can take up to 26 weeks to be recognized by you, I didn’t feel my son move until I was 25 weeks pregnant….The position of the baby can also determine whether you feel him or not, if he is facing your back for instance it is more difficult to feel him move….As long as ultrasounds and fetal heart monitoring is okay they generally do not worry about movement until you are further along in your pregnancy..then they will have you start fetal kick counts!
Well im having a boy and ive been feeling him sense around 19 1/2 weeks but it was little flutters i REALLY started feeling him around 23 weeks now thats all he does is move. but i deff. felt him before that, his bones are hardening right now also so hes probably moving alot you just cant feel it. Try this. Eat or drink something with sugar in it, not alot of sugar, and lay on your LEFT side for about an hour watch tv or somethin, and he should deff. move!! if he dont call your doc. tomorrow if your tellin him/her hes not moving they should be telling you to come in ASAP for an ultrasound!!
I felt my boy move pretty early. i was about 21 weeks. If you are worried I would call your doctor. That is what they are there for. Believe me there are times that i wanted to go to the er just to get another look at him…but you should be fine. the frustrating thing about pregnancy is that everyone is different. when in doubt ask your dr. or nurse.
