My Hi-Bebe fetal doppler is rubbish?

Im 14 weeks pregnant and have bought a Hi-Bebe BT-200 Fetal Doppler. I cant find the babies heartbeat, just the whooshing of the placenta and even that is hard to hear due to the static noise of the unit. Does anyone else have this problem? I paid £70 for the doppler and its rubbish. As soon as I turn it on all I hear is loud static noises. Is there a better one I could buy instead? Thanks in advance.

those things work much later in the 3rd trimester, they are glorified stethoscopes.
I had one, someone bought it for me as a gift when I announced my first pregnancy. It also did the exact same things as you have mentioned, it was just static, even when I was in my third trimester you still couldn’t hear it. What a waste of time, money and effort!
