If you’re hearing a heartbeat on a fetal doppler, is that a good sign that all is well?
I rented a fetal doppler about 3-4 weeks ago. Even though I am constant prayer and have faith that all will be okay, it provides reassurance when I am able to come home each day and here my baby’s heart beating away.
My next appointment isn’t until September 21st. I will be 19 weeks and 1 day and will find out what I’m having, as well as how the baby is doing. My last appointmentw as on September 2nd and I was 16 weeks and 3 days. The heartbeat was 153.
If I’m hearing a hearbeat at home (I have one without a heartrate display), and can hear the heartbeat, is that a good indication that everything is okay? Would a baby with down syndrome or missing kidneys have a strong heartbeat?
I really try not to think negative but I have moments where I freak out and this is one of them.

Heartbeat variation might be an indicator of potential heart problems, but I don’t think it would relate to problems such as Down Syndrome or kidney issues. Heart rate is not a marker they use when identifying risk for those types of issues.
Hearing a good heart rate means that your pregnancy is progressing and that the baby is alive, but can’t really tell you much else about the baby’s health.
Try to relax. Everything will be okay. Worrying about this kind of stuff is not good for you or the baby. If something is wrong, the doctor will let you know. Enjoy being pregnant and just listening to the baby. Good luck.
yes, that;s a great sign. try not to worry so much, your baby is most likely healthy and pretty much any problem has a solution these days, so just look forward to seeing your little cutie soon
