if this is your second pregnancy, is anyone feeling the baby later than you expected?

i am 17 weeks pregnant today, and i have not yet felt the baby move and this is my second baby. i keep reading and hearing people say that they felt the baby move sooner in their second pregnany. but i haven’t felt the baby yet, and i am concerned. i have a fetal doppler and heard the babies heartbeat, but just no fetal movement.

it all depends on the baby and the shape your body is in. i had my daughter, and 2 months later i was pregnant again. i’m not exactly sure when i felt this baby move, but it was about the same time i felt my daughter. there’s no reason to be concerned as long as the baby is growing fine and the heartbeat is strong. you will feel your baby move someday, i can’t tell you exactly when though.
I didn’t feel the baby move as soon in my 2nd as I did in my 1st but I was thinking it might be because I have some tummeh fat now that I didn’t have before?
Does that make sense?

im 25weeks with my second i did feel this baby much earlier. i felt my first son at 22weeks and this baby at 14weeks. it is different for all pregnancies and maybe its got something to do with the way your placentais laying or just the posistion of the baby. i wouldnt worry about it though as most people dont feel movemenst until after there 20week scan anyway.

I felt my my first move at about 19 weeks, and I had always heard that you feel the 2nd one sooner. So when I didn’t feel the baby move earlier I was a little concerned. But at around 19 weeks I started to feel this one move, so I guess not everybody feels it sooner the 2nd time around. Now I’m 27 weeks and I feel my baby move all the time. I’m sure you will soon!
This is generally true but not for all women. I felt my son (firstborn) moving really early, like 15 weeks, but I didn’t feel my daughter move until 18 or 19 weeks. And I actually weighed less before I got preg this time than I did before I got preg with my son.
as with everything, always check with your midwife first, however, i was v much like you - 2nd preg, everyone / every article saying how much earlier they have felt their baby move etc etc, yet i barely felt a thing until 20+ weeks, when she kicked me so hard in the bladder i nearly peed a little (TMI I know but still makes me giggle as was in the middle of a v formal presentation at work at the time!)
Do you know someone once posted a similar question on a similar site and some delightful yummy mummy / clueless bunny posted an answer saying she felt hers earlier, the asker should attempt be more ‘in tune’ with her body - grrrr eh?
