I had one and I could never hear the heart beat either all the way through the pregnancy, I guess only professionals can predict where to place it properly to hear it. But it is also very normal to hear lots of activity because not all of it is the baby, it could also be your stomach processing foods and other stuff like that. Don't worry, just keep trying different places on the belly to try and pick up the heart beat. good luck.

Nope never had any luck with them at home things. Most woman say they can't pick up a heartbeat until about 20 or more wks with at home dopplers. I wouldn't worry, it is rare to get a heartbeat at home early.

I had one of those home fetal dopplers and it didn't work at all (what a waste of money!). But as long as you can feel your baby moving around, no worries!

Ha. I'm almost 37 weeks along and have never been able to hear my baby's heart beat with the fetal doppler I picked up. Did you buy this from a store? If so, it was probably a waste of money. Sorry to say. Even the rented ones will not always work. I would not be concerned if all is going well at your appointments. I finally gave up on trying to hear my baby's heart beat as it was too frustrating.

The only thing you're hearing from your belly is food digesting or liquid swishing around. Anything you're hearing is not baby related. If this is your first baby you may just barely be feeling it move around. Most first time mommies do not feel anything but "butterflies" until they are closer to their 5th/6th month when they first start feeling kicks.

You probably aren't putting it in the right location. You should put it very low right above the pubic bone.
