I am 15.5 weeks pregnant but no heart beat on fetal doppler?
the baby is alive and well according to all scans and recent checks, but my fetal doppler at home (the kind I strap on and listen throguh head phones) still isn’t picking up the heart beat! I can hear the baby moving but no heart beat! Why is this so?- when other women hear it as early as 10 weeks!?
Also, is it normal to hear LOTS of activity in your tummy region and odd bumpss from baby?
I just said I HAVE seen my doctor. They can pick it up, my at home doppler can’t. Gee I’ll bet I have to wait till 20 weeks or something ridiculous.

I had one and I could never hear the heart beat either all the way through the pregnancy, I guess only professionals can predict where to place it properly to hear it. But it is also very normal to hear lots of activity because not all of it is the baby, it could also be your stomach processing foods and other stuff like that. Don’t worry, just keep trying different places on the belly to try and pick up the heart beat. good luck.
go see a doctor
call your doctor.
I have one and directions said may not hear heartbeat until third trimester but i do hear movement.
Nope never had any luck with them at home things. Most woman say they can’t pick up a heartbeat until about 20 or more wks with at home dopplers. I wouldn’t worry, it is rare to get a heartbeat at home early.
I had one of those home fetal dopplers and it didn’t work at all (what a waste of money!). But as long as you can feel your baby moving around, no worries!
Ha. I’m almost 37 weeks along and have never been able to hear my baby’s heart beat with the fetal doppler I picked up. Did you buy this from a store? If so, it was probably a waste of money. Sorry to say. Even the rented ones will not always work. I would not be concerned if all is going well at your appointments. I finally gave up on trying to hear my baby’s heart beat as it was too frustrating.
The only thing you’re hearing from your belly is food digesting or liquid swishing around. Anything you’re hearing is not baby related. If this is your first baby you may just barely be feeling it move around. Most first time mommies do not feel anything but "butterflies" until they are closer to their 5th/6th month when they first start feeling kicks.
You probably aren’t putting it in the right location. You should put it very low right above the pubic bone.
i purchased that bebe`heart monitor. when i was pregnant and i didnt hear much you really cant hear anything until your 4th-5th month. the baby maybe turned in a position where you cant hear it. lots of movement is normal they are in a sac of fluids. enjooy being pregnant as long as`the doc says your fine.. remember every pregnancy is different.
The home dopplers aren’t nearly as "strong" as one used in the doctor’s office. I know most of them won’t even pick up a fetal heartbeat until about 20 weeks gestation. They’re barely better than a stethoscope. Terrible waste of money, IMO.
Your home doppler sucks, thats all,get a new one
It shouldn’t be no heart beat of the baby. May be your placement of the fetal doppler is not in the correct position. That is a normal thing, you can feel your baby moving inside your tummy region especially during night time. Fetal usually more active during mummy’s resting time. When the baby is a new born, usually baby will keep his usual activity time. So, be a new mum, you have to prepare for baby doesn’t want to sleep at night but he sleep during day time.
Go to the doctor, better safe than sorry
Most people I have know to that bought them found them to be a huge waste of money that did nothing but make them paranoid that something was wrong with their child when nothing was wrong, but that it is almost impossible for a non medical professional to find the heart beat through a pregnant woman’s stomach. People you know who heard it at 10 weeks are the exception, not the rule, at least in my friends’ experience.
that doppler is not equivalent to a real doppler, dont expect to hear anything until much later.
At home doppler’s are not quite as sensitive as the one’s at your doctors office, but you can fidget around with them.. Try different areas of your belly and be sure that you are well hydrated. A full bladder can sometimes help amplify the sound.
Yes, it is normal to hear lots of moving around, odd bumps etc
those babies love to kick and squirm, and stretch.
Best of luck to you, and God Bless!
