How long can I keep the doppler on my tummy to hear the baby’s heart beat?
i’m renting fetal heart doppler thingy and i know i’m gonna over use it. i’m home all day (don’t work) and i’ll probably strap that thing on my belly and just do stuff around the house with it on (a bit of exageration but still).
n e way, i haven’t read anywhere that listening to your babys heart tones can be harmfull for the baby. i heard that too many ultrasounds can be bad but even that is questionable.
so, my question is, can i strap it on and listen to it for hours at a time? (yes i stocked up on batteries), or just listen a little bit each day.

You can strap it on and listen as much as you want too..there is no harm to he baby from it at all it just amplifies the sounds that can be heard in your uterus…
Good luck and enjoy
I asked my midwife about this because I was considering renting one. The doppler does use the same ultrasound waves that can produce heat that is thought to affect the baby’s brain. There is no way to know for sure if this is happening so to stay on the safe side she discourage prolonged use. She said if I wanted one to only listen for a minute once a day and be done with it. I decided to stay on the safe side and not get one at all.
The other thing is that most dopplers that you rent do not strap on, they are hand held and it’s very hard to keep it in exactly the right spot to hear unless you are pretty far along.
As long as you want too
