I have one (Bebe monitor) and I use it about twice a week and I love to hear my baby’s heartbeat. It is perfectly safe for you and the baby. It works better when you are farther along rather than in early pregnancy. But, I am 17 weeks and I can hear my baby’s heartbeat just fine! However, it does help to find the top of your uterus and hold it down as this stops the baby from moving so much which can make it harder to hear the heartbeat. I am a first time Mom and I’m constantly worried about my little bean, so my doppler helps to reassure me between doctor visits that everything is okay!
Love it…told me it was going to rain today…and it did!
I used one occasionally. There are no studies done on the long term effects but we could say the same about ultrasounds and sonograms.
uhm i bought one and it was seriously a waste of money. and i think it’s safe or else it wouldn’t be on market. but i couldn’t even hear my baby’s heartbeat. i think to actually be able to hear it you have to spend a lot of money that really should be spent on other stuff like diapers.
i was monitored by those machine with both my pregnancy’s and my girls came out fine. I don’t think they could be used if it was harmful to either you or the baby. Don’t worry. They even sell these machines for home use. Congrats on your new baby
I am pregnant I am also a veterinary technician and we use dopplers all the time. They are safe, they do not harm the baby, I wouldn’t wear it 24-7 but it is perfectly safe to use. There are no side effects and no long term effects. We use them all the time on dogs and cats to monitor heartrates and bloodpressure. Enjoy your pregnancy and hearing your little ones heartbeat. I get to hear mine for the first time next week. =)
