Has anyone used one of those at-home fetal heartrate monitors?
Hi all,
I was just doing some browsing for baby stuff on eBay and I found listings for fetal heartrate dopplers for at-home use!

I’m 11 weeks pregnant and have been in and out of hospital in the past 2 weeks for bleeding. And now the hospital says I can’t get emergency ultra sounds anymore because my bleeding appears to be a normal part of my pregnancy. It’s still scary as hell (had a m/c in April this year) I really would love one of these to help me relax whenever I think something is wrong!
But I was wondering if they are any good before I go spending my money, has anyone gotten one of these or know someone that has? Are they any good?

Bought almost the exact one and you cant even start to listen to the hartbeat until your in the 3rd trimester.
Also I am in the 3rd trimester and I still cant hear the heartbeat, Even if at my appts. I can hear the heartbeat is strong.
This one is a piece of crap, If your going to get one you need to get a hospital grade one. You can also rent them but there kind of costly.
Something like this. http://www.heartbeatsathome.com/
i got one..it didn’t work for me.they say its best to use in ur third trimester.well i was 39 weeks the day i had my lil boy and it still wouldn’t work
They dont always work and will probably make you more nervous because if you dont hear the babys heartbeat you will freak out and its just the machine. Dont waste your money! Best of Luck with your pregnancy!
I tried using one when I was pregnant and I could never hear the baby’s heartbeat. A couple months ago someone else asked about fetal heartbeat monitors and just about everyone that answered said that they were a waste of money and didn’t work. Thankfully, the one that I used was given to me so I didn’t spend my money on one. I wouldn’t recommend buying one.
they dont work
I bought one to see if it would work i am 15 weeks and I don’t hear anything but when i go tot he Dr there Dlopper works fine. I think it is a way to pray off us moms who want to hear our baby heartbeat to make sure everything is A-OK
I had one when I was pregnant and found it was more worry than help if you don’t get it in the right spot you cant hear it, it made me a nervous rec lol but maybe different brands are better I don’t know but good luck x x
i have a doppler that i am renting right now and it is the best thing in the world. I have had 4 miscarriages and am currently 17 weeks pregnant. I first heard the heartbeat at 10 1/2 weeks but it took awhile to find it…..now at 17 weeks i can find it within seconds. The one that i rented was from babyfm and it was about $130 for 2 months.
We bought the Sonotrax Fetal Doppler (3mhz probe) from Amazon.com and it works great. It cost around $80 and it is something that can be used again or passed down to another family member or friend, so it’s not a waste of money.
I use it on average 2-3 times a week..
I’d skip it - unless it is hospital grade, you are unlikely to find the heartbeat or mistakenly start tracking your own pulse instead of that of the baby. Most women that I know (including myself) found it to be much more stressful to not be able to find the heart rate.
Congrats and best wishes for a happy & healthy pregnancy!
Only the really expensive ones work such as the Hi Bebe.
One of my coworkers rented one for both pregnancies and it worked well.
I got a fetal heart monitor from ebay for about $90 and it works well. I got it when I was 14 weeks and could hear the heartbeat then. It was a prenatal fetal heart doppler. Here is the link to the first one I saw on ebay.

I bought a dopper off of ebay, but I bought one of the baby sounds ones. It was around $50. Honestly they don’t work fantastic and they pick up static. Your better off spending more money and buying the more expensive ones than the cheap ones. I bought one because I miscarried in Oct 08 and thought it would calm my nerves about chance of miscarriage again. I started using it at around 11 weeks and thought what I was listening to was my babys heartbeat but it was actually an echo of mine! I couldn’t pick up the actual heartbeat until around 3 weeks ago (16-17 weeks). Maybe its because I got a cheap one, not sure.
