I rented my doppler from http://www.bellybeats.com. It was $25/month but I had an online coupon code for $5 off each month’s rental so it was only $20/month.
However, with a doppler, it is still very difficult to hear the heartbeat at 10 weeks. At 12-14 weeks you’re more likely to be able to hear it, so don’t panic if you rent it early and then can’t find the heartbeat. I’d recommend you wait a few more weeks just so you don’t have this issue.
I bought (not rented) a doppler fetal heartbeat monitor (just like the ones that docs use) online. I think it was amazon and it costed $125.00 and worth every dime. It works as early as 8 weeks.
Don’t waste your money on the ones at walmart etc. they only work when you are at least 7 months.
Jdl_1984 You are wrong. They are available and they are not that expensive. Geez…………..
I got my from babybeat.com too and its awesome! Found the heartbeat about 11 weeks and I’m now 20 weeks and love it!!!!! $30/month. Don’t buy one of those cheap ones from the store! I hear you won’t be able to really use it til 7-8 months or so……I swear my doppler has gotten me through my pregnancy with a lot less stress than without it. I miscarried my first pregnancy and this has helped tremendously!
I don’t know about Kansas. But where I live most of the hospital’s rent them and it’s only like $8 a month. Good luck!
We rented one from http://www.babybeat.com, and it has been wonderful to have! You shouldn’t let it take the place of an official dopplar reading you get in the doctor’s office, but on those days when you just want to hear the heartbeat and connect with the baby, it’s awesome. I’m not sure how I would’ve gotten this far in my pregnancy without it.
You can rent various types of dopplar readers at various degrees of cost. Ours is $30 a month and it comes with a built-in recording device. We were able to record our baby’s heartbeat, upload it to our PC and then email it off to one set of grandparents who live in another state. Also, we received it in the mail very quickly. I ordered it on a Wednesday afternoon and by Friday it was on our doorstep at no extra cost to me.
I live in Texas, so I’m sorry I can’t answer your question about renting from a local place. I highly recommend http://www.babybeat.com though. It was actually recommended to us by my OB, so it’s a reputable company.
Good luck to you and congrats on your baby! We’re due in early January and we can’t wait for him to get here!
Yeah, have fun with that. Expensive medical equipment is not something you’re going to find to just rent. Geez.
You can buy ones at the pregnancy clothing stores to hear the heart beat but not monitor it. If you needed one to monitor the heart the doc would help you with this. If its just for amusement.. dont drive yourself nuts.

why dont you save the money and wait for the doctors visit? or go to walmart and buy one of the little cheap ones instead of spending big bucks on the fancy stuff
