Has anyone else had this while using fetal doppler?
Usually i hear the heartbeat within 5 minutes and quite clearly. But today i had a really hard time finding it and i looked at the time before i started and it was like 8.10pm and when i finished i realised id been using it for a good 10-15 mins because i was getting really worried and i got carried away and wouldnt stop until i heard the heartbeat, i did manage to catch it a few times but only for a few seconds and then the baby moved and id hear lots to whooshing and it would be a disaster trying to find it again. Yesterday i had no problems but i had curry not long before i used the doppler today could that be why the baby is moving so much. When i finished and i realised how long i used it for im now really worried as it says only use it for a few minutes….is this ok?
it was a quite spicy indian curry btw
youre allowed to use it a few times a week they wouldnt be letting people hire them if you couldnt use it often at home. its also FDA approved. some people have used it numerous times a day and their children are fine

the baby was in an awkward position for it to pick up the heartbeat.. Even professionals have that problem sometimes. They searched about 15 mins with me and could only find mine then the wee one moved and they managed to pick it up i was soo scared tho longest length of time in my life!
If you picked up the heartbeat even for a couple secs and can feel the baby move theres nothing to concern yourself with
also glad you enjoyed your curry haha!
Congrats and good luck on baby
I rented a doppler with my first pregnancy and I really liked it!
When my daughter was in a bad position to hear her heart quickly and clearly, I used to drink some very cold ice water. She would get tumbling around in there and soon move whatever part of her was blocking the signal.
I never even thought to do that until they started giving me non-stress tests where they wanted me to push a button every time she would move. If she wasn’t moving much, they would give me ice water to drink. (Same thing for if she was just in a bad position to monitor her heart. She was a stinker about that, so maybe that is all that’s going on with your baby)
your using that thing too much, i only get checked once a month and the heartbeat is always fine, unless the baby stops moving or your having complications i would chill out on using that thing
I agree wish Sheesh… sometimes that baby isn’t in a prime position to hear the heartbeat… if you are getting worried, I would do the fetal movement test that she is talking about. That should give you some reassurance that everything is ok! Good luck.
Oh yeah! At my last Midwife appointment (I was about 17 weeks pregnant) she had a heck of a time hearing the heartbeat because the little Booger was just moving around and was probably in a position that she said made it hard to hear it. I just went for a Level 2 Ultrasound today and the heartbeat was strong and regular on that.
Try not to worry. My baby is active the most when I eat something sweet or spicy. Man, they sure do get him going! I don’t have a doppler because this is our last baby but I had one with one of my children, and I loved it!
