The only couple I knew who bought one of these wished to God they hadn't, for the same reason you mention above. There are times you wouldn't hear the heartbeat, and when they couldn't, they'd panic. Then what happened was they became almost obsessed with it. And had to check on the heartbeat throughout the day.

But I'm not saying don't use it or enjoy it. It's a wonderful thing to enjoy! Just keep in the back of your mind that you won't always hear the heartbeat with early pregnancy and that's okay! Congratulations.

I rented one from storkradio.com when I was pregnant. If it is a REAL doppler, just like they use in the doctors office, it should work. The baby is still fairly small and moves alot now (even if you can't feel it yet). I would try searching for the heartbeat ALL over your belly, not in just the same spot you found it last time, if you can't find the heart beat call your doctor.
