Fetal heartbeat doppler?

I’m thinking of renting one. Have u rented one and how often is it okay to listen to the baby’s heartbeat-and is it safe? This is my first pregnancy and I am a bundle of nerves and still trying to decide if a heartbeat doppler would make me feel much better til I feel the baby move or til my next u/s at 20 wks.

Hi and congrats on your pregnancy!
Renting a REAL doppler might be a good idea - I certainly wouldn’t waste my money (again) on one of those store bought "Fetal Heartrate Listeners". We had one of those when I was pregnant with my daughter and it never worked.
Using the doppler as often as you want is safe. But, keep in mind that if you can’t find the heartbeat for some reason, you might go into a panic (I did!). My OB told me that she never recommends women use dopplers at home for that very reason.
Good luck!
I know exactly what you mean. I rented one and used it about every other day, it was wonderful, and gave me peace of mind go for it.
It’s safe to use it anytime, you’re just listening.
You can rent them a couple of different places for about 40 bucks a month. I didn’t rent one (I originally thought I wanted to) because I thought it would make me more nervous that anything else. If you go to the doctor’s every month, they should be listening to the baby’s heartbeat anyway. Also, you will start to feel the baby move around 16-20 weeks and then you will feel much better knowing that he/she is okay.
I think it is great to have one, and it is reassuring. and it is safe. But i did want to add that sometimes it can ADD worry…becuase if you don’t use it right you might not hear what you want to hear and get stressed, they are for professionals, so make sure you read up about them and kinda know what to do with it. (I have heard many stories of women using these getting stressed when they themselves couldn’t find a heartbeat, or heard the "echo" heartbeat and things like that)
if im being honest i wouldnt get one. i had a miscarriage then got pregnant straight away and was scared everyday but you get through it.
I thinkthe doppler are more hastle then there worth, if your baby is in a different posistion and you cant hear the hearbeat all your going to do is panic and be even more nervous through out the rest of the pregnancy.
Dont stress your self and take care xx
I have one. I bought it for just over 40 dollars on eBay it’s an "angel sounds" fetal heart monitor and I love it. I have a history of miscarriage and I use it a couple of times a week to hear everything and make sure all is well.
there is no evidence to suggest that using a fetal doppler periodically is harmful at all. As with all things I use it in moderation just to be safe, but the peace of mind it brings is worth every penny.
I never knew you could rent a doppler lol…. had i know that i would of got one myself and put my nerves at ease!!!! i would suggest you ask your doctor how often he/she suggests to use it, im not sure that it will cause any sort of harm if used frequently but its best to find out for sure.
