I don’t have a actual question..just curious if anyone else in my same situation. I am 16 weeks pregnant and weighed in 254 at my 14 week appointment..my height is 5′7". So as you can tell I’m overweight. Strangers would ask if I was pregnant before I ever became pregnant! So now that I’m showing a little(I can tell because my tummy has gotten harder and rounder and is out a little more) it looks like I’m already like 7 or 8 months pregnant!!! I get so nervous going out in public wondering if a stranger is gonna come up and say something like WOW ur bout to POP! Ya know?
Also it embarrasses me that when I see my dr the fetal doppler doesn’t work to hear the heart beat cuz of my fat..we have to do a quick sonogram to make sure.
This is my second pregnancy and really wanna enjoy it but this all makes it hard!!! With my first pregnancy i was only 17 and didn’t get to enjoy it…way too much drama and I was a teen that was in denial of being pregnant.
My husband and I actually planned this baby and are very happy but he is in the Navy so he’s been gone since we found out I was pregnant..and I won’t be with him til I’m 6 months pregnant!! So I feel like I’m doing all this alone and not getting to enjoy it because of the overweight issue. Is there any tips?
Sorry so long..just kinda depressed about it all.
Thank u all! And yes I think my husband not being here has a lot to do with it..he always makes me feel beautiful ;)…and Jen I would be thinking yay I get to see it every month but my dang dr puts the screen to where I can’t see it! I even mentioned I can’t see and she doesn’t turn it or anything! So frustrating! lol

f.l-7.0cm
f.a.c-31cm
like that given
no sonographically detectable congenital anomalies seen in major organ system of fetus at the moment with available fetal position and liquor.
3) fetal cardiac activity: regular H.R 156/mt
4)fetal biophysical sore: 6
fetal tone-2
fetal movements-2
fetal breathing-2
amniotic fluid volume-0
5) fetal dopplet parameters: umbilical artery doppler flow shows normal flow and velocity-S/D ratio 2.3
middle cerebral artery doppler flow shows normal flow and velocity
both uterine artery doppler flow shows normal flow and velocity
6)estimated fetal wt:2844+- 236 gms
7)amniotic fluid:reduced in quantity,AFI-6 oligohydramnios
8)placenta: is implemented along the anterior wall of upper uterine segment showing GR II maturity. there is no evidence of placenta praevia
9)cord structures: no evidence of cord structures is seen around the fetal neck at the moment.
IMPRESSION:

2) liquor: reduced in quantity AFI-6 oligohyramnios.
3) placenta: anterior wall of upper uterine segment showing grade ii maturity
4)estimated fetal wt:2844+-236 gms
these details has given in my scan report i want to know based on my report whether baby in good condition or not? any risk may occur in delivery or normal only? then i need meaning and explanation about each and every term used in report to get idea about my baby health.
then any possible to tell the gender of the baby from this report ? if yes tell me the gender me and my hus is very eagarly waiting for that. if anything wrong with this report pls tell me the remedy for normal delivery and deliver a baby in good condition .

So i just purchased this fetal doppler and got it yesterday. i am currently 9 weeks and 3 days pregnant
i tried to do some research before i used it so that i would know what to do…. so i decided to first listen to my own heart so that i wouldnt confuse it for the babys heart. but when i did that :
the 1st time: it was at 90-94
2nd time: it started at 90 and went all the way up to 160…. wth??
then i just decided to go ahead and try my luck to try and find the baby’s heart beat and i think i was just getting my own bc it would go from 127 then go down to like 80-90 it was the strangest thing.znd one other time i picked up a steady heart beat at around 127. iam now starting to think that maybe my doppler is just defective??
i have a doc appoinment on fri and iam starting to freak out bc i cant find the heart beat i havent even had an u[s yet iam hoping that on fri my worries will be eased.
has this happend to anyone?

I recently purchased a Sonoline fetal doppler and am 11 weeks pregnant. It recommends that it should only be used past 12 weeks of pregnancy. I have used it several times since I received it last week. Why should it only be used past 12 weeks? Could I have hurt my baby by using the doppler too soon? Help

I recently rented a fetal doppler and am 12 weeks along. I am trying to distinguish if what I am hearing is the baby’s heart beat or the placenta. Would the placenta sound more like my heartbeat or the baby’s?L Like would it sound as fast as the baby’s heartbeat? I hear a fast heart beat- twice as fast as mine- and am not sure if that is the baby or not.

Im currently 22 weeks & I would like to know if it worked for you .I don’t want a doppler(can’t afford it) so I was looking in to getting a stethoscope or fetal scope . I want to buy one that works and is not to expensive .
Ive read in book/magazines that you can at 20 weeks , but then people on here say no you can’t until 30 weeks.(big difference) lol
So what was your experince with one if you tried it , and if it worked well can you tell me where you got it and how much money it was .
Thanks <3
I heard it depends on your wheight and This lady on here told me she could here the babies heart beat 20 weeks with one and she was skinny .
Im quite skinny . I also know it depends on the postion of the baby ect

Currently, I am 18 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have had no bleeding or cramping, just an occasional pain that shoots from my ovary area towards my back. I assume it is ligament stretching and growing. I had to change doctors due to an insurance coverage issue. I last saw my original physician at 10 weeks, and my first appointment my new physician is July 22nd. At 10 weeks, my doctor could not detect a heartbeat via doppler, so she performed an ultrasound which showed a VERY active and healthy baby.
Well, I’m slightly concerned now as I have an "at home" fetal heart monitor that I purchased, and I have yet to hear my baby’s heartbeat. I’ve also heard that at this stage, I should be able to feel sometime of movement which I have not yet knowingly experienced. Maybe I just have a crappy monitor and I don’t know what fetal movement should feel like. My question to you: Am I just worrying too much or should I try to get in with my new physician ASAP to check for miscarriage?
Thank you so much for all the feedback! I really appreciate it! Sometimes I guess you just need to hear it from someone who has "been there and done that."
This may sound stupid, but you know when you have a muscle spasm and the area twitches… is that a good analogy to what fetal movement feels like?

My question is:
What are my chances of miscarriage at this point in my pregnancy??
The Run Down-
Ok so This is technically my 4th pregnancy. The first one I carried to full term and had a perfect healthy girl. She is now 5 years old.
I tried to get pregnant about a year to 2 afterwords and had a miscarriage at 5 weeks and 2 days at first they suspected a molar pregnancy, The baby had no fetal pole.
A couple years later me and my husband had another miscarriage only at 8 weeks, when we went in for the u/s no fetal pole or heart beat.
Ok so I got prego a couple days after Valentines Day, and I am now 10 weeks and 4 days, I had a great healthy HB going at 170 BPM with the doppler and then 175 BPM with a ultrasound at 10 weeks 1 day.
We want so bad to be excited about this pregnancy, but there is doubt and fear that lingers from the previous m/c. Any insight would be great, I’ve been trying to research this but, I would rather hear from real live people
Thank you all who respond
God Bless!

the baby? Since when you’re at home there’s no monitor strapped to you to monitor his heartbeat? Or did it not cross your mind? I’d like to labor at home as much as I can but I’m like hmmm… I don’t want to endanger my little bambino. Tips?
I know electric fetal monitoring isn’t *necessary*, but I do think some monitoring (fetoscope or doppler if using a midwife for example) is essential… I would hate for the baby to have a problem and because of my preference to hold off on heading to the hospital have brain damage or worse. I could never forgive myself!
Hmm, I suppose I shouldn’t worry, it’s just hard when it’s your baby in there. I know if someone else were asking I’d say, oh don’t worry lol!
Oh jeez, I’d *never* go to a hospital sooner than I had to for a "natural" birth, I’d sooner buy a fetoscope myself. I guess maybe I will.
Monitoring does improve outcomes, where do you people come up with this stuff?
If you want to say "electric fetal monitoring does not improve outcomes," and not be *entirely* incorrect, you must follow your statement with, "in comparison to intermittent monitoring with a fetoscope or doppler."
Kevin, I agree that EFM isn’t as nice as doppler or fetoscope monitoring (every 45 minutes or so) but let’s face it fetal monitoring is for the best. Unfortunately for women and babies it’s easier for hospitals to slap an EFM on mom’s belly.

ive asked a similar question before, and i have gotten a few good responses, but id like more! im currently 23weeks pregnant, and he will not be here for the birth. we do talk over web cam, but i still want to involve him even more. i try to take plenty of pictures, but it doesnt seem like enough. and he didnt even get to feel the baby kick before he left, 2 weeks ago. i want some unique and fun ideas to keep him up to date during the pregnancy..anyone? …also my son is fiesty..i bought a fetal heart rate monitor…and even the doctors have a hard time with the doppler. and dont even get me started on the ultrasounds…ive had to have 3 because he moves around wayyyy to much.

Hello All, I’ll be having my first prenatal appt this friday which is 9wks 5 days. Just about that 10 week mark. (ive had problems with misscarriages before, so double digits is certainly a milestone for me) anyways, what can I expect to go on at the first appt? Ive already had 2 sonograms. Fetal Heartbeat was detected at 7wks 1 Day, will they do the doppler test to see if we can hear it?? Can someone just give me an overview on what to expect?
Also, is it terrible if you miss a day of prenatals? Im still getting used to taking pills everyday.
Thanks

I received my Sonoline Fetal Doppler in the mail yesterday. I am currently 11 weeks along and once I opened the package, I couldn’t wait to use it. I must have used it 8-10 times yesterday at about 5-7 mins each interval. The reason I used it so often was that I had to show everyone that walked in the door. Now that I am thinking back, I am beyond scared that I may have harmed my baby. I do not know how often I should use it and if there are any chances of it harming my baby. Do you think I could have harmed my baby because I used it so often yesterday? I have not used it at all today because I am so scared. Please give me hope someone. Will my baby be ok?

hi this is my first pregnancy, now 33weeks.my OB is suspecting cord coils and i’ll be having doppler color flow to confirm it.according to her my baby is unusually active, fetal movements are closely monitored.in 1week time, baby’s position is breech, then traverse, then cephalic, then cephalic with arms and legs stretched then traverse again- and consistently this has been the cycle the past weeks. im getting worried as cord coils is one top cause of intrauterine fetal demise, im especially worried about nuchal cords….
has anybody experienced cord coil problems when they were pregnant?…. if so, did you also feel that your baby was very active in your tummy? oh its just so hard to control fetal movements, this knotty problem is really getting at me

he does move and i did get his heart beat monitored cos i was worried and its fine.
is he ok in there?

Okay…what do you think? Here’s my story. I went in to the doctors office on tuesday for a regular o.b. check up. My eleven week 4day check up to be exact. She could not hear a heart beat with the doppler. So she scheduled a sonogram for thursday. At the sonogram…they found a gestational sac that measured 7wks. Not 11. And what she "thought" might be a fetal pole that measured somewhat like 6 and 1/2 weeks. However she could not find a heart beat. She believes something is wrong. I assumed my baby is dead.So she calls up my doctor and tells her what she’s seen and what she thinks etc. I went in to talk to my doctor yesterday afternoon. And she explained that i could either be experiencing a "molar pregnancy" or i’m off on my conception dates (which could be because my cycles are extremely irregular even though i was sure of my lmp.) Now i would think if it were a molar pregnancy there would be some visible lumpy tissue on the sonogram. Opinions please?
would just wait for the docs results but that won’t be until Friday!!! This week is going to be murder….

I was listening before and i got the heartbeat, but near that there was this funny woo woo woo noise, quite quickly paced too. Anyone had this before?
It wasn’t from the doppler itself because i could only hear it when it was pointed a certain way so it’s definately from in there somewhere.
Surely hiccups are more spread apart ?
I had a flu vaccine today that’s why I’m concerned. I’m 14w5d.

If your having a normal pregnancy/labor/birth/delivery and the baby’s heartbeat/rate is fine and everything, then what is the need to have fetal monitoring? Is it necessary or unnecessary?–When the mother and baby are perfectly fine and the baby’s heartbeat/rate can be heard by doppler/fetoscope.

This whole pregnancy has been very easy and almost completely symptomless. At 9 weeks I heard on the doppler the bpm was 160, at 11 week ultrasound baby was growing bigger than I thought I was far along, changed my due date and fetal heartrate was 171. Now I’m almopst 14 weeks and not feeling much of anything is this normal?
just a little worried when hearing about "missed miscarriages"

I had a doctors appointment the other day and he came in the room with the doppler. We tried to see if we could get a fetal heartbeat but no luck. He said it may be too early and everything looked good with my ultra sound at 5 weeks so not to worry. I cant help it! Is this normal? When is the ideal time to hear the heartbeat?

I am 20 weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy. I am bit overweight too (160 pounds), I am not yet feeling any strong baby movements, 2-3 days back I felt fluttering movements when I was lying on my back which I am not sure were baby movements but yesterday and today I am not feeling anything. I had dr. appt when I was 17 weeks and dr. had checked heartbeat using doppler. I have a scan coming thursday. I am worried as I read that baby movements are felt from 18 weeks.
Thank you guys for your replies

Hi there,
Could anyone please tell me in layman’s term my ultrasound report below:
OBSERVATION:
Uterus is seen in nrmal anteverted position and is bulky in size. Myometrium tissue has normal echotexture and no focal mass is seen in the uterine walls.
An defined gestational sac is seen in the uterine cavity. Chorio amniotic lining is disrupted and a subimplant bleed is seen along the inferior margin.
A small fetal pole is seen in the gestational sac.
GS measures —- 1.0cm —– 6 Weeks 1 day
CRL measures — 0.4cm —–6 Weeks 1 day
Doppler examination shows no arterial pulsations along the fetal pole.
IMPRESSION:
Ultrasound study shows an intra uterine pregnancy of 6-7 weeks gestational age with no heart pulsations, suggestive of missed abortion.
I am worried about this result I would really appreciated it if someone could clarify this findings for me.

my baby is very active to the point where i cant get to sleep alot of the time and he moves all day.
he moved alot yesterday but then late evening i was at a bbq and he quitened down abit , also last night he was quieter than usual but i still felt him moving.
today he has moved but again not as much as normal.
i have a hired fetal doppler and his heartrate etc is fine just wondering is it normal for him to still have a quiet day? or maybe hes running out of room his movements have changed over past 2 weeks i guess.
he is my first baby
thanks

At my appointment yesterday my doctor did a pap-smear then when he went to listen to the heartbeat he said the baby was not cooperating so we didn’t hear it. We heard the heartbeat two weeks ago at my last appointment. He told me not to worry that I did not miscarry. I am guessing that when doing a pap he could tell my cervix looked good? He scheduled an ultra sound for when I am 17 weeks. This will be my second baby and I don’t remember ever not hearing the heartbeat. Any one ever been through this? I am trying to be optimistic cause my doctor told me not to worry, but its hard.
Do you think maybe the baby was just moving around and he couldn’t find it with the doppler? I also think I have been feeling fetal movement and did feel it last night. Should I be worried? or should I just act like normal and wait till Sept. for the ultrasound?

Do you think there is a link between the increased use of home fetal dopplers (due to heat and sound problems) and autism? I was reading several articles that claim the increased use of ultrasounds due to there heat and sound problems can possibly be linked to autism. It also mentioned the increased use of home fetal dopplers. I ask because I have a doppler and have used frequently. I’m 24 weeks and am ready to stop using it immediately. Anyone else have one, used one frequently and the baby turn out fine? Anyone have one, used one and baby was born with autism? Please share your story.

I was told that it is only 2 or 3 mghz that is marketed and approved for fetal use ..but I am buying a doppler on ebay that stated it can be used to listen to the baby’s heart beat .A friend today looked at it and looking at the probe stated it was a vascular probe . I had that confirmed it’s actually a 8mghz .
I was advised its 8 mghz marketed but can be used on the baby as well
I’m in canada so I actually do not need a signed doctors form to get one here
had one my last pregnancy (twins) and was able to find the heart beats but I know that I have seen is 2 or 3 mghz the person selling is telling me 8 is used as well
when I can’t find a heart beat I know not to panic as usually a few days later I find it .Really depends on how their position .The last daughter the nurses all using the dopplers said she would kick it and you would see her ripple across my stomach and move away
my gyno found the heart beat last time at 12 weeks for me . Infact I used a friends already ..and located the heartbeat twice at 14 weeks
