I am 14 wks pregnant with my 2nd child. I went to my routine check-up this week and was expecting to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time. Surprisingly, it was not found, so, they decided to do an ultrasound to detect the beats per minute (bpm). The baby was moving so rapidly (this is the reason the heartbeat could not be detected with the doppler[?]) that the technician could hardly clock the bpm. Finally she clocked the bpm at 164, which is normal. Note that my blood pressure was also up a bit from usual (did’nt get the reading), which is unusual for me. Do you have any idea? Or even an idea of what I could search online for to maybe ellaborate? Thanks so much, have a great day!

hi, i’m 19 weeks 4 days pregnant, i was wondering if anyone knew if this is normal..
i recently bought a fetal doppler so i could hear my baby’s heartbeat whenever i wanted, and pretty much this whole week, the heartbeat is found in the same exact spot everyday-.. and that is very very low right above my pelvic bone i almost have to hold the doppler ON my pelvic bone to get a reading.. does that mean that the baby isnt moving around? i dont know what to think about this, please help

I went to see my midwife last Friday for my 16 week check-up and when she tried to listen to my baby’s heartbeat, she told me that my placenta is at the front which made it slightly more difficult to locate my baby’s heartbeat. Has anyone else had their placenta at the front and does it move as the baby grows bigger?
I also bought myself a fetal doppler from eBay. Are they any good?

It was 172 two days ago, and he’s awake now because I heard him kicking the fetal doppler.
Is it supposed to go up and down like that?

I am now 8 weeks and was trying to use a fetal doppler, I know its alittle soon yet but was wondering if theres any reassurance by hearing other noises that may contribute to a live fetus w abeating heart such has placental sounds or something?? I believe I hear that but can’t find a heartbeat yet.. I wish to just have confirmation that something is alive here,, I still have to wait until middle of March for my first OB appt.

I had my 16 week check-up today and I haven’t had an ultrasound yet. My doctor only likes giving out one and she said I’ll get one at my next check-up. Well, the fetal doppler picked up a heartbeat on my lower right side and a heartbeat on my lower left side. Both heartbeats were strong and neither one was my heartbeat, but my doc assumed it was still just one baby because both heartbeats were in the 150’s. Oh and she also thinks its just one baby because I’m measuring right on track and have only gained 4 or 5 lbs. What do you think?
Oh and if anyone found out they were having twins afterall, were you measuring normally at first or were you much bigger?
I would be just excited for twins as I am for a single pregnancy…we have a 2 year old daughter now and are very excited to add a new addition/additions to the family! =)

At every ob appointment is it a must that u listen to the babys heartbeat until delivery? Also,If i get an ultrasound, will they also listen to the babys heartbeat that same day using the handheald fetal doppler (not the u/s machine)?

Where can I buy a fetal doppler thing to be able to listen to my babys heartbeat? I just heard it at the doctors yesterday & would love to be able to hear it anytime I wanted. Also, about how much do they cost?

i am 23 weeks pregnant, and have an anterior placenta. i have felt no baby movements today, however other days baby has been mpre active. movements are only still faint, and easy to miss. i bought a home fetal doppler and baby’s heartbeat is right on target and strong. should i be concerned about lack of movement today? is the heartbeat reassurance enough? do babies slow down some days?? does the anterior placents affect this? as i said, baby’s movements aren’t that strong to me yet!!

I have been having achy PMS type cramping for the past couple of days. They are constant and not in intervals which I have read could be bad. I have a fetal doppler and can hear a strong heartbeat and am not spotting. Could these constant achy cramps just be my uterus stretching? Is it normal to last a couple of days (not every second of the day but a good portion). Any similar experiences would be great to hear.

Like many women in pregnancy I have found that I have an increased sex drive and I also achieve orgasms a lot more frequently. Even before I was pregnant my hubby and I would use different toys to spice up our sex life. One in particular is a large vibrator. It isn’t one that is inserted into the vagina, it is just placed on the clitoris for stimulation. It is quite powerful when turned up to full capacity! lol So, my question is, is that safe to use while pregnant? I’ve read some answers on here regarding regular vibrators but this one isn’t actually inserted into me and it can be a lot more powerful. I’d say you could probably successfully use it to massage your back if you wanted to! I’ve used it since the beginning of my pregnancy (currently 15 weeks) and I’ve never experienced any pain during or after use. Also, I have an at home fetal doppler and I always check on the baby afterwards and there is always a very strong heartbeat and sometimes he/she will be moving around and sometimes he/she won’t. So what do you all think? Can I continue using it or should I stop it all together? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

It feels sore. When I walk, it hurts. Why is that? Is it normal? It started yesterday noon. I have heard my baby’s heartbeats with fetal doppler. I’m 22 weeks and 3 days along.

I heard somewhere that skinnier women can hear the baby’s heartbeat through a fetal doppler earlier than bigger women (around 8-9 weeks) which doesn’t really make any sense cuz the baby is still tiny. Is there any truth to this? I thought you could start hearing the heartbeat on a doppler at 10 weeks.

Anyone around 15 weeks still get occasional cramps? I woke up about 3 am last night with cramps that lasted for a few hours. They kind of felt more like ligament pains rather than PMS type cramps. They were not like contractions (I know this would be even scarier) but almost like a constant pain in my abdomen. I checked the heartbeat with my fetal doppler and everything is fine. Also, the pain seemed to have gone away. Any simialr experiences would be great to hear.
