i had the exact same one, if i remember rightly it is no where near as sensitive as the nhs ones so doesnt pick up sounds until closer to 20 weeks i think.
i think the first sounds it picks up are the sweeping sounds of the baby moving, also when i found the heartbeat for the first few weeks it was fairly quiet but got louder as baby grew - also double check that you got it on full volume
the babies heart beat sounds like a mixture of running horses and a space ship lol
dont worry im sure its all fine
Those are not very good, sorry! The cheaper ones don’t work well until the baby is really big, like closer to the end of pregnancy.
If you truly want to hear the baby now at home you should rent a good one from someplace. There are a couple of sites that do that. When I was super paranoid after miscarrying I rented one from heartones.com I got the cheapest rental one they had and it worked for me from about 14 weeks on.
So in this case, I am sure it is the doppler you are using.
I had the same one and i did not hear the babies heartbeat on it till about 21 weeks. I heard him moving about before i heard heartbeat. It sounded like water being moved around. Good Luck and try not to worry.
i wouldn’t worry. seems like your case is the same as mine: i went to the doctor’s at 13 weeks and they couldn’t find the heart beat either. long story short, after an emergency ultrasound, turned out my baby was too active to pick up his heart beat and with all the space in there he was just bouncing around. now that i’m 22 weeks (and he’s got less room to bounce around) i can actually hear his heartbeat on the doppler without the need of an ultrasound.
Honey, when you buy stuff from the internet, there is a reason why they are selling it, because it probably does not work, I would go to the store, and buy a brand new one, not a used one when it comes to baby, only buy the stuff that works and is new, not old and used.♥
This is the problem with at-home dopplers. You won’t always be able to hear anything and mothers start to freak out. You are most likely just not listening for it in the right spot, and being that the baby is still very small, (a little smaller than the size of your hand) it will be difficult to find. This is no reason to panic! I promise you! Keep practicing with it and eventually you will be able to know just how to find the heart beat.
On the same note, you should know that a fetal *listener* will not work until well into the third trimester. If it is an actual *doppler,* (with the gel that you have to use) then they start to work at around 10 weeks, but again this is something that you will have to practice. Even at the doctor’s office sometimes they can’t find the heart beat right away.
