That's happened to me too - My doctor said that if the baby is far back in the womb that it can be hard to detect at that early stage. My sister heard the heartbeat at 12 weeks, but than nothing at 20 wks and her baby is fine. I think it's normal - as long as you've had a good Ultrasound, I would not worry about it.

Fetal heart beats are just hard to hear, even at 39 weeks I have a store bought doppler and I can't hear anything on that!!! Don't worry you will hear it soon enough, and if the ultrasound is showing the heart beating everything is fine. Some time the way the baby lays in your stomach makes it harder to hear. Think about it there are layers of skin and fluid that the doppler has to go through! No worries!!

More than likely its your babys position, if the baby is laying away from you or in a funny spot it is almost impossible to find the babys heart beat. And only being that far along the baby gots a lot of moving around room so I am sure they are playing cat and mouse thats what my baby did until about twenty weeks! You will hear it soon be pacient and hope your little one will cooperate soon! Congrats

well congrats on ur pregnancy. But every time I go for my prenatal visits it takes my midwife about 10 min. to finally get a heartbeat, she said I have a very wiggly baby. so maybe ur baby is also very active and doesn't sit still long enough for him to get a accurate heart beat!! as long as they do an ultrasound and find out everything is ok, then I'm sure there's nothing to worry about

best of luck

sometimes it depends on where the baby is. they can't always find it on the outside with just a doppler if the baby is further back.

as long as you can see the heartbeat on the monitor, you should be fine. i heard my baby's heartbeat at 11 1/2 weeks, but it was also in a decent position.

good luck and i'm sure you will hear your baby's heart beat in time =) you have a long ways to go.

Depends on the position of the baby and (forgive me) how much "mom" there is between the doppler and the baby. Sometimes the baby is hiding just behind the pelvic bone just enough so the doppler can't get a reading. Also, if the baby is next to your arteries, the doppler would have a hard time filtering out your heartbeat.

The doctor didnt find my sons heartbeat until I was 17 weeks and i was very worried about this but sometimes it is just because of where the abby is postioned that the doppler just cant locate it but if your ultrasounds are fine you should ahve absolutely nothing to worry about it just give it time and you will hear it. I know that it can be pretty scary though until you do.
