I got one from Wal-Mart for Christmas and loved it. On the packaging it does say that you won't be able to hear much until the early third trimester, but I was like 5 months and a week at the time and I could hear my baby girl's heart (very faintly) and when she kicked my tummy it made these loud little "whump whump" noises. I treasure mine. Now that I'm a week away from being a full 6 months pregnant I hear her heart beat loud and clear. So you don't have to spend a lot of money for a doppler. Hope this helps.
