Fetal dopplers????
I’m about 5 weeks and a few days pregnant and i was wondering if you can hear your own heart beat in your uterus with a fetal doppler. I know really its a little early to hear the babys heart beat but thought i’d have a listen and see as i have had a horrible weekend and was in hospital because i was in alot of pain and they thought i perhaps had a ectopic pregnancy, i didn’t but was v scary. anyway i can hear a heart beat thats about 83 bpm but wondering if thats my own as i don’t know how fast my own heart beat should be.

83 is yours…. between 120-180 is baby!
It’s way early to hear the baby’s and that sounds kind of weird to hear your own heartbeat in your uterus. But maybe it is at 83 bpm; your pulse/heartbeat. I heard my baby’s heartbeat when I was 11 wks preggo. Now I’m 22 wks & his hearbeat is at 154 bpm. Baby’s will be between 120-180. Best wishes with your pregnancy!
Yes, you can hear your own heartbeat with a fetal doppler. 83 bpm would be yours. The baby’s would be in the 135-170 range, on average.
It’s really way too early to hear the baby’s heart beat at this point - it’ll be about another month or so yet.
it sounds like it is your heartbeat, a baby’s heart will start to beat at week 6, the earlier the detection the faster the beats per min, you should be looking for more like 140+. congrats and good luck xxx
That was yours! You will not be able to pick up the babys on a doppler til after 12 weeks.
You won’t hear your baby’s heartbeat with a doppler until AT LEAST 16 weeks - 18 weeks, and even then it will be really hard to find as the baby has lots of room to hide away from it. When I was in hospital at 20 week, even the trained midwives took ages to find the baby’s heartbeat c\os he got so good at running away from the doppler.
The heartbeat you’re hearing is your own - a fetal heatbeat wil be anywhere from 130 - 170 beats per minute.
Be really sensible with this device - the last thing you want is to start panicking and stressing every time you can’t find the heartbeat, or you think it’s too fast/too slow. The negatives of having one may very well outdo the positives…

It’s your abdominal aorta that you’re hearing. It’s very big and it pulses - you can see it in the bath sometimes if you lie quietly and watch your tummy - it’ll go up and down gently.
Your baby is a little too small for you to be able to hear the heartbeat just yet. Perhaps about 11 weeks.
Well, the doctor should have told you if it was your own heartbeat or the babys. The baby’s heart beat is VERY fast really early on like 100 and something and then the farther along in pregnancy the slower it goes!! So, that was probably your own…as that is normal for your own heartbeat!! When they are that little it’s going to be hard to tell because they are so small and move around TONS!! I had an ultrasound around 6-8 weeks pregnant!! Congrats on your new baby!! Sorry about your trip in the hospital, but I’m very glad that you didn’t have that!! Ouchy!! E-mail me if you need to talk!!
It is a bit too early to pick up the babies heartbeat, which is why (in the UK) they only start to listen for the heartbeat at your checking in appointment (12 weeks) - it can only be seen on a sonograph machine at 5-7 weeks but not heard. You should be able to pick your babys heartbeat up at about 12 weeks - such a special moment - enjoy!!!!!!
I had a heartbeat monitor and I ended us listening all the time and right through my pregnancy.
When you do start listening for it and if you don’t find it straight away do not be alarmed - it even takes midwives a few tries to get it right… As baby is so small and moving all over the place you might not be able to find it unless baby is still.
