Fetal doppler use?

I rented a fetal doppler and have been using it once a day for about 1 minute at a time just to hear the heartbeat. Is this safe? Just curious to hear how many times other women have used it during a week. Most of the things I have read said it is safe for continuous use. However, I have read that you shouldn’t overuse it. Any feedback would be great.

it is perfectly safe. maybe the concern for not overusing it is for the sake of the doppler so that it will not wear out fast or destroy it. or for being overly obsessive-compulsive about your baby’s fetal heart tone that you will become anxious about minor changes which are perfectly normal.
It is ok to use occasionally but you are exposing your unborn child to things you should not. Do you not believe the baby is okay? If there is a reason to be checking for the heartbeat- ok. If not, you need to let nature take it’s course and leave the other stuff to the doctors. Don’t be over obsessive now…what will you do when that child is here, or in 16 years? Will you still be feeling his/her pulse everyday? Think rationally. Did you tell your dr?
Congratulations! You made a wise choice that will keep you from going back and forth to the hospital or doctor because you will have the security of checking on your little one!
During my 4th pregnancy in which I was a nervous wreck because the 1st 3 were miscarriages, I used my doppler on a regular basis — meaning multiple times a day. And I listened for long periods of time.
It is a perfectly safe device. The only thing my physician had a problem with is that it gave me more security in my pregnancy which meant I was less likely to call him with the "little" things which could have indicated major problems.
i have a doppler i am 28 weeks, i have rented one since i was 17 weeks, it gives me alot of reassurance and helps me not worry so much. i try to only use it now when she hasnt moved all day and i panic, when really she has probably been awake kicking throught the nite and is asleep in the day! hehe. i can be a bit obsessive so i dont use it when i have felt her kicking and moving as i no she is ok then touch wood. good luck and congratulations.
We bought a doppler and we used it about every other day or every 3 days. My daughter started bleeding when she was 12 weeks and we were petrified that she was going to lose the baby. Now that she (and I) can feel his movements everyday we only use it every other week or so. I really don’t think there is a problem with using it every day (I hope not)
Congratulations and God bless.
And as for what Emily said….
My daughters are 23. 21, and 20 and I still, on ocassion, check my girls when they are asleep to see if they are breathing. So I don’t think that’s as outrageous as you made it sound. We get worried and want to make sure they are ok. It’s perfectly normal.
Hi, i hired a fetal doppler at the beginning of december an the day i got it i used it 3 times!! Every day after that for about 2 weeks i used it twice a day.I had an appointment with my midwife on dec 19th an told her i had one an she said that the only reason we shouldnt use it to much is incase we become reliant on it an panic if heartbeat dosnt sound same everytime!! She also said that i shouldnt hold the doppler on to long like for more than 2 mins as a heat builds up in below it which will heat up the amniotic fluid. Appart from that its fine!!
