Theyt say it should beat 2 times as fast as our own. I have heard mine 18wk 4 days twice at the doctors and it was faster. I can feel my heart working alot harder too. Dont panic when you go for your next check up just mention it.

A babies heartbeat should be between 120-160per/m on average but in some stages of your pregnancy it will be higher. If it isnt a lot different to your own maybe your hearing the echo of your heatbeat. A professionally trained midwife can hear your baby’s heatbeat at this time but my midwife suggested waiting til 20 weeks to try on my own. Up until bout 30 weeks your baby’s heartbeat will be above your bellybutton and when they get in the head down position you will find the heartbeat at the lower part of your stomach. Make sure you have it low down, sometimes you do pickup your own. Should be about twice as fast as your own.

hi im currently nearly 19 weeks pregnant, whenever i hear my babys heartbeat in the drs etc its alot faster than my own. when listening for the babys heartbeat if you move the doppler over you can also hear your own which is much slower. babys sounds like galloping horse. to be honest i bought one of those dopplers tried it at 14 weeks couldnt hear anything and got myself all worked up. i went to the hospital where they listened to the heartbeat and everything was fine, they said that the dopplers the nhs use are much more sensitive and for me to get rid of mine. ive put it in the loft and no longer use it! the midwife also said that this year they have lost 3 babys due to people thinking they can hear the babys heartbeat when it was there own and missing antenatal appointments. x i wouldnt reccomment them x

Alot of people complain that they can’t hear the heartbeat with the at-home-ones.

You must be sure that you are listening to baby’s heart beat, not your own. Baby’s should be about 140 and it sounds like a galloping horse. I was also listening a lot to the heartbeat at this stage of pregnancy, I stopped when I started feeling baby’s movements.
I dont think you must limit it to twice per week only if you want to listen more often.
