fetal doppler question?
hi just wondering if someone could help? i just got my fetal heart Doppler and found what i think is the babies heartbeat (around 150 bpm) but its always in the same place every time i use it day and night i was just wondering could the beat im picking up be something other than baby like blood flow to the placenta or something? because would the baby be moving around so id be finding him/her in diffrent places? im 14+1 xx
im 14 weeks i meant could the sound of the blood flow from the placenta be as fast as 150 bpm or could that speed only be the baby is sounds like pow pow pow

The Doppler can pick up the heart beat ("h.b.") from various angles. It has a widening range, and a good h.b. will be captured even when it is at a slightly different location. A h.b. of 150 is the baby’s - their h.b. are much faster than adults. If it would be close to 100, I would suspect the pulse may be from another maternal source. If you don’t feel the baby moving at all, you may want to contact your health provider.
If it sounds kind of hollow and swooshy it could be the heartbeat in the cord instead of the baby itself. You will not hear the heartbeat through the placenta. How far along are you?
the babies heartbeat is going to sound like a galloping horse, train, etc. It is fast and in a steady rythm. The placenta sounds like a whooshing (blood flow). Your heartbeat is slow, but will appear echoed, because your listening to it in your uterus. It is not uncommon to hear the baby’s heartbeat in the same place all the time.
it might be that you picked up your own heartbeat. Most people mistaken on that! And plus the fetal doppler doesn’t work that well. I’m 21 weeks and still can’t hear the heartbeat on that thing.
