Used an Anglesounds Fetal Doppler today, I am 12 weeks tomorrow. Could only hear the placenta/my own heartbeat I think. Couldn’t trace a fast heartbeat. I’m so worried my scan isn’t till 13 weeks. It says on the reviews it works from 12 weeks.
What should I do? Did this ever happen to you?x
LIG - yes hun I am in the UK. Thanks for your answer x

at 12 weeks the baby is tiny are you in the uk
midwifes wont even check until 16 weeks because there is so much room the baby is hard to find
my own midwife could not find my baby’s heart beat at 12 weeks hence why its now 16 weeks
hun dont worry your self everything is fine wait for your scan and you will see your beautiful baby witha heart beat
Sometimes you can’t detect it with one until further. especially if you’re a bigger person. If it worries you, talk to your dr. I would calm down, drs know more how to do that, and you’re not a doctor,so it could just be that you’re not doing it 100% correctly. Good luck! I doubt it’s anyting though.
I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in those home fetal doppler monitors —
Wait until your appointment, and see what the doctor/midwife says. Or if you’re really worried, don’t hesitate to call — it’s what they’re there for! But I wouldn’t worry, I don’t think those things work very well. The ones they use in the doctor’s office are much more powerful.
Good luck to you!
Don’t depend on the Doppler’s that you can use at home to detect a heartbeat, especially at this early stage of your pregnancy. Some doctors don’t even try to detect the heartbeat w/ a doppler until your 16th week. Relax everything is probably fine, your scan is only one more week away. Good Luck
You know, they actually say not to use those things for this reason…..that it freaks the mother out. Don’t worry, they usually don’t pick it up anyways….they aren’t strong enough, no matter what it claims.
They couldn’t find my baby’s heartbeat at 12 weeks using a standard monitor from the doctor’s office. My OB said she had a personal monitor that was a bit more high powered. I laid on the table for about 1/2 hour while she looked. When she found it, it was really faint. My next appointment at 16 weeks we heard it clear as day. At 12 weeks it’s really tiny and really hard to find sometimes. I wouldn’t worry.
Are you moving the doppler at different angles, very slowly?
With mine, I found the heartbeat at 11 weeks, but the first time it took me almost two hours to find it. The baby is very tiny, and it is sometimes hard to find it.
Calm down and try to get it again, if you are upset, it will be harder to find.
Then again, when I was 12 weeks wih my daughter, the doctor couldn’t find the heartbeat with the doppler, so she did an ultrasound.
Experienced nurses even have a problem finding a heartbeat at this time. Yesterday it took them at least 20 minutes to find all three of my babies heartbeats. Don’t panic. Your baby is in there. I’d advise staying away from this home detection equipment. It just adds unnecessary stress.
We weren’t able to pick up the hearbeat on doppler until I was a little past 13weeks. It came in loud, clear and strong then. I don’t get my first ultrasound until I’m 18weeks, 1 more week to go, I can’t wait to see my little bean!!! Nothing to worry about and completely normal to not hear it quite that early. I also only wait to have it done at the doctor, then I know it’s done properly.
