they are fantastic. i rented from 14 weeks and it was a really good way to put my mind at rest.
i think for what i spent i could have bought one but the ones available for commercial sale are very bad quality. the ones you rent are hospital grade and would cost loads! happy with my choice.
•The Nicolet Elite Doppler is available in two types. One type displays the mother’s heart rate and the other has audio only.
Features
•Each Nicolet Elite Doppler has a 3 mhz waterproof probe that allows for earlier detection of the fetal heart rate. It features a headphone jack as well as a low battery indicator.
Size
•Each Nicolet Doppler is 6.8 inches tall by 2.9 inches wide and weighs approximately half a pound.
I was all set to rent from babybeats.com for $40 a month, until I read the reviews for the AngelSound. It reviewed so well, I decided to risk the $30 (I got mine on Amazon) to see if it wrked as well as what people said. Turns out, it was great, and we LOVE it! And that way I don’t have to mess around with returning it, or paying more than we actually had to.
A lot of people said, you get what you pay for, but that is NOT our experience on this one. I started using it at 14 weeks and have never had a problem finding the heartbeat. It’s possible this doppler’s not really built to last long-term… but, how long do you really need it for, right?
I was so pleased with it, I also bought one for a pregnant friend as a happy pregnancy gift.
Anyway, I say it was $30 WELL SPENT in our case. Just make sure whatever you buy - get gel, and use plenty of it when you use your doppler! Nothing is going to work regardless of what you pay if you dont use enough gel.
I just went to Babies R Us and bought a Graco that’s kind of like a FHD, they have them at just about any store that has baby stuff, even Wal-Mart, and they work great. It’s a really inexpensive way to hear your baby’s heartbeat from really early on. It says on the packaging that it won’t work until 3rd trimester, but that’s just for hearing hiccups and stuff like that, I could hear the heartbeat of my cute little peanut since 12 weeks, so good luck and congrats!!
i bought one from, i believe, a website called echostore.com and it cost about $60.00 and worked from 12 weeks
I’ve heard Stark has the best, but they require your ob/gyn to write up a prescription. I would just google doppler product reviews and that should help you.
