many people say they are good for the money and what is £30 these days go for it it will cost you around £25 per month to hire one
You should be able to hear it if you listen intently.. i’ve used one and find they work fine.. and you can do it anytime you like.. supposedly it’s very touching
Being a man, ive never been pregnant!
But £30 doesnt sound too bad, youve got another 30 weeks to go and get use from it. Thats £1 per week, ebay it once youve given birth, you may get £20 back.
Many doctors don’t recommend that you have this at home because if one day you can’t find the baby’s heart beat (which many non-professionals struggle to do) you may cause yourself undue anxiety which will have a negative effect on the baby.
They are usually good, but you might be too early to hear the heartbeat. Doctors usually won’t try and listen for it until about 16 weeks and they won’t even use the monitor in the hospital for it until about 28. Try again with it in about 5 more weeks. But be patient with it, you may not be able to find the heart beat because you are not trained in how to look for it.
The ones you buy from walmart and them suc! Some people get so scared because sometimes they can’t hear baby. I rented a medical one from bellybeats.com It is amazing. I can hear baby every time (keep in mind the slow heart beat is yours echoing and fast one is baby). They are wonderful and have great customer service. They send gel, batteries, lotion, dvd, and everythign. For a $500 doppler I pay $25 a month. They are friendly and deliver fast. I had mine delieverd to canada in 2 days and heard babies heartbeat right away!
They’re ok but only in later pregnancy, I’m 25 weeks and I still can’t find the heartbeat very often and when I do it’s really faint.
dunno if i would bother…. it was such a pleasant novelty wheni would go to the clinic for appointments and listen to my baby’s heartbeat, if i could do it at home, i think the novelty would wear off. also, i think what other people said is very very true about not being able to find it. some weeks when i went, the midwife could find the heartbeat straight away, others, it took two people to try numerous times. if i was at home and couldn’t hear it i would probably be a bit freaked out. you have enough to stress out about!
yes i brought one of these and they are pretty good
You can’t start using those dopplers until you are about 25 weeks pregnant, and by then you will be feeling the baby move all the time, so I think that the novelty of being able to hear the heartbeat will quickly wear off.
If you do want to buy one, I’m sure that the £30 work just fine.
I wouldn’t get one they are nowhere near as reliable as the one you midwife has. Imagine what a panic you would be in if you couldn’t hear the heartbeat. congratulations and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. x x
I bought one from Ebay, one that a midwife would use. It cost me £30 and I could hear the baby from 12 weeks. I use it weekly, just so I can hear him, not because I’m paranoid. Its also a nice way to get your partner involved.
They are a good idea but get a good one.
