I wrote a birth-plan and stuck to it. I handed one to everyone involved and didn't let them do any weighing or rushing him around and until we had a silent, peaceful hour alone to bond. Everyone left the room except me and my husband. I didn't allow any vaccinations or eye drops or anything else unnecessary. Obviously everyone's ideal will be different and you mainly want to highlight the most important things to you.
But, at the same time you need to allow for some change if needed. The health of you and your child is the most important. Good luck, Momma. You'll do great. Women have been successfully giving birth since before written histrory and it is not a health 'condition' to be categorized like a disease or anything like that. You'll do great!
(But, yes some nurses/doctors do try to treat you and the birth of your child as some major 'new technological advancement.') Stay strong as you already are, they will recognize that and whether or not they agree they have to abide. It is your body and your baby! :)

That is why I use midwives. I don't feel talked over and around so much. My second and third deliveries were natural and I didn't allow anything unless I wanted it. I'm half convinced to not get an IV this time because they bruise me up so badly trying to put it in. Don't let them do an external monitor if you don't want it. It is your body and your baby!

Another huge thing for me was the episiotomy. They cut me with my first baby (7 pounder). My second was a 9 pounder and the midwife carefully eased him out without any tearing or ripping. I'm convinced the doctor did the cut so he'd not have to put as much effort into the delivery.

Yeah, I've def. had that experience with doctors that don't value what you have to say. But good docs. are out there too. Hate to say it, but I have found that women doctors usually listen better than men...(But I have had good and bad Both)
