Erratic numbers on fetal doppler?
I’m 12 weeks pregnant and bought a medical grade fetal doppler with the LCD screen to tell me BPM. The first time I used it i got a steady 165 and heard the heartbeat loud and clear.
but for the past few days i’ve tried and tried and can’t seem to pick the heartbeat up. I’m getting numbers anywhere from 80 to 180 and I can only hear static, not a steady loud heartbeat like before.
Why did i only get 1 good reading out of this doppler? Whats up with the erratic numbers??

If I remember correctly — and I’m sure I do, when they took the fetal heart beat — they had to really push the "thing" around and have the right amount of vaseline on the belly — PLEASE don’t be nervous — it’s the reason it should be done at the doctor’s office — because doing it at home, the baby will reposition and they know where the baby is and can tell where to position it……..so please don’t worry. I’m sure the baby is fine. The first heartbeat is normal — as a baby’s is fast — but you probably just don’t have it positioned exactly right all the time.
It will get easier even doctors have a hard time finding the heart beat before 14 weeks. Cause the baby moves a lot and is so small. You just got very lucky in finding it and the position of the baby the first time.
The baby probably moved positions, you have to be real patient with those things when you are early in the pregnancy. The crazy numbers are proably a mix between yours and the babys, 80 was probably yours and 180 was probably the babys. Jus keep trying.
because your not a professional and only professionals should use those!!!!! there not toys meant for entertainment
baby changed positions
It may not be the doppler but simply the way that the baby is laying. I have three children and there were times that the doctor was unable to find the heartbeat due to the way the baby was laying. Just keep trying until the baby moves positions.
