I’m thinking of purchasing one. Do they work ok? I’ve saw not to get a cheap one because they don’t work very well. I’m15 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and I’m really excited about it. I get really anxious to hear the heartbeat in between my doctor’s visits, it would be nice and comforting to hear the baby’s heartbeat at home. thanks.

I bought one for $100 on amazon. It works pretty good, but we can’t always find the heart beat. You have to be okay knowing that you might not be able to find it everytime you are looking (sometimes it’s too far from the doppler or something). I bought it at about 16 weeks, and now at 21 weeks we can find it a lot easier. I opted to buy it instead of renting it, because I want to be able to use it for another baby and after renting one for about 30$ a month, this one will have paid for itself.
If you think you will get upset if you can’t find it, I would suggest against buying one. The ones the dr uses are about $1000, so they are extremely highly advanced. A lady I work with got one of those on craigslist for a good price, and she said it works amazing
you can rent one it would be cheaper than buying one i pay like 20 dollars a month for mine at babybeat.com and yes they work just like the doctors doppler
I have been borrowing my friends Doppler, its a babypulse. It works great, there is a bit of static, but it works well enough once you find the heart beat. Not sure how much they cost to buy but you can also rent them. It always makes me feel better using it when the baby hasn’t moved as much as I expect.
I had bought that Bebe Sounds one, or whatever it’s called, with my first baby, and even when I was full term, I never heard the heart beat. I don’t recommend that one!
i never bought one. you can drive yourself nuts.
I was having bleeding my whole first trimester and so I was very worried about my baby and asked my doctor about renting a good doppler and he told me absolutely positively don’t do it. He said that they get a ton people in there who can’t find the heartbeat and panic and come rushing in only to find out that the baby is just fine. He also said that doctors don’t really know how ultrasound waves effects the growing fetus if used regularly (it is a type of radiation after all) - but it has been shown to change the way cells reproduce in lab studies.
The panic does go away once you can feel the baby moving, which won’t be far off for you, so I suggest waiting it out.
iv had 4 miscarriages - so i bought one. its fantastic - and my advice is to buy one. i bought it on ebay; copy this into ebay and you should pay around 45 sterling for one, you can buy the ky jelly in local pharmacy.

remember you re looking for a heart rate of around 140 beats per minute.
You could rent one, but if you plan on using it the rest of the pregnancy you might want to just buy one from a wholesaler on eBay; my friends have found them on there for $100, and they work perfectly. With renting, you won’t get a rate lower than $20 a month, so if you rented it up until the baby is born you’d spend about $100 just to have to send it back. But either way you go, it’s so fun to have.
I rent one from http://www.heartones.com for $22 a month and I love it!
Whatever you do, dont buy the Bebe Sounds it sucks and it doesnt even work.
u might pick up your own hun,i wouldnt bother, then if you dont hear it,its gonna make u worry!, actually its hard to find if your a midwife, never mind an inexperienced mum to be
go to ebay and i got one for 49.99 and its just like the one my doctor uses!
congrats
