Boy or a Girl? 16 weeks pregnant.?

Hi there,
I’m 16 weeks pregnant now – and have my next scan in 32 days to find out the sex.. i know its an old wives tale about knowing the heartbeat rate and determining what it is from that but i just wondered what people think and the results they got from theirs?
I brought a fetal heart doppler so i can hear it whenever i want to – and it ALWAYS comes in at 146/147/148 .. without fail its one of those EVERY time!
Just wondered if anyone has any ideas as i’m desperate to know 
. I’ve a feeling its a boy but the babys father is determined its a girl lol.

I think there is 50% chance that it’s a boy, and a 50% chance that it is a girl.
do that thing with the sewing needle on some cotton-its SPOOKY!!!!!!!!!!
I ahd three girls heart rate ranged- 1st girl 160- 2nd 145, and 3rd 140…. so I think its crap lol

If I can answer that question I woulda put my gender delimma to rest, I dont find out until this tuesday coming up and I cant wait.
When my doctor listened to my baby’s heartbeat at 16 weeks she said she would take a guess and say it’s a boy due to the fact that the heartbeat was slow but steady and normal. It is believed that girls have higher heart beats (140bpm or higher) but just like you said it’s an old wives tale, it has never been proven right. The only reason I trust what my doctor said is because she must have listened to a million and one heartbeats in her practice so she probably knows what she’s talking about but then again she has a 50/50 chance of being right. One thing is for sure I cant wait for my scan on Tuesday! Good luck.
It’s hard to tell. My first son’s heartbeat was always in the 130′s-140′s, and he was a boy! Doctor predicted that before the u/s. But, my second son’s heartbeat was always in the 160′s or 170′s, and he was a boy, too. The one I have coming is in the 160′s and 170′s also, so I’m really looking forward to my ultrasound on Thursday to determine whether it’s a boy or girl. It is so hard to wait; I know!
I would almost predict a boy for you, but who knows?

I know from experience that the heart rate method is crap. With this pregnancy, my doctor said the heartbeat sounded boyish, because the heart was beating between 120-130 beats per minute. I had an ultrasound and she is a GIRL. So, it could be either, hun, don’t go by the heart rate, trust me. My doctor was right about my first and second son and said the heartbeats sounded boyish (which they were), but he said the same with this one and sure enough it’s a girl (we’re thrilled, LOL).
Its more then likely a boy due to the steady heart beat rate. Its said that girls have higher heart rates and not always as steady, apparently. I heard about this from my girlfriends mother who has had 3 children in the past 5 years, and the first one had a high heart ready and not always even and the doctor said it was probably a girl. and what do you know its a girl. Same doctor the other two times said the heart beat was very steady and said it was probably a boy, what do you know two more boys. Of course this can’t be completely correct all the time, but its a guess right!
There’s some truth to it, but not always. My babys heartrate is always 130s-140s and it’s a boy!!
I have heard of several things and they are all false. They usually say that a fast heart beat is a girl and a low heart beat is a boy and I have a boy and a girl and there heart beats were the same. Some people say that carrying low its a boy and carrying high its a girl and for me that would be true but a friend of mine carried high and she had a boy. So it really just depends on the person because everyone is different. The only way to tell for sure is when the baby is born.
according to the old wives tale that would mean a boy
it worked for me – at 16 weeks my son was 142bpm (which means a boy – and he was a boy)
and my daughter at 16 weeks was 167bpm (which means a girl – and she was a girl)
I know, its so annoying waiting! I have my second scan in 15 days and can’t wait to find out, we are so excited! We are the other way though, i think its a girl and my husband thinks its a boy, so one of us has to be right! We really don’t mind either way though, just will be nice to finally know! We want to start buying specific and really bond with our baby before it is born, we have our names all picked out. I think knowing the sex will make the end of the pregnancy so special for us and i only hope baby is in a good position on the day, with no crossed legs!

I’m gonna guess girl based on the heartrate. Mine is a girl and her heartrate was always 160-176. Old Wives tales say anything 140 and above is a girl.
