The Babymad BabySounds Fetal Doppler will enable you to hear the heartbeat and movements of your unborn baby from the twelfth week of pregnancy. See heart rate on LCD display. Listen to the sounds of his or her heartbeat and you may even hear hiccups, kicks, blows and baby's first movements.
The Baby Sound Fetal Doppler is a small compact portable unit, very easy to use and has a easy grip handle unlike some of the similar products on the market which are quite large and hard to hold. This products ergonomic design means it can easily be held in the palm of your hand for easy manoeuvring to find your baby's heartbeat. A recording cable allows you to save these first sounds on computer or CD to keep as a memory or to email to absent friends and relatives

This works very well indeed. You can pick up baby's heart beat very easily. If baby is lying with its back to your front there is a strong pickup. Otherwise, you may have to poke the doppler into the side, top or bottom of your lump to try to get a good sound, but I've never been unable to find a heartbeat somewhere, even if it's a bit faint due to awkward positioning. If you leave the doppler on the heartbeat for a short while, the heartbeats per minute show up on the LCD screen and that's very reassuring.
One set of in-ear phones is supplied but there are two sockets for earphones so both parents can listen together if you have an extra set of earphones to hand. The lead that links the unit to a recording device is supplied. It's easily linked to your laptop or PC.
I assume the only difference between this doppler and the cheaper one is the LCD screen. If you're not bothered about seeing the heartrate and want to go for the cheaper option, I'm sure it will work just as well. You can easily distinguish between baby's heartbeat and your own pulse. Baby's is very quick (bangbangbangbang) and yours is quite slow (bangpausebangpausebangpause)...a strange way of explaining it, but I'm sure you'll understand when you hear it.
A nice sized bottle of gel is supplied and you don't need much at all to get going!

Thoroughly recommended. I bought this when I was 18 weeks pregnant and was able to hear the baby's heartbeat immediately. Provides wonderful peace of mind until you can feel the little one kicking.
Fantastic Piece of kit

Reviewer: H. Ludlow,
I bought this doppler after a thorough look throught all the ones available and Im so glad I spent a bit more on it. Even without the gel and just wetting the probe you can pick up a heartbeat but with the gel the sound is incredible, so clear and easy to find. It also picks up sounds of the baby moving around. It comes with free gel, batteries and a set of headphones. I absolutely love this bit of kit and would reccommend it to all pregnant women who need that extra bit of reassurance between appointments!
