This may be the strangest question posted on here. I’m after a fetal doppler, so I can listen to my babies heartbeat. I’ve looked on ebay, but are still expensive even second hand. Just thought I’d ask on the off chance anyone is thinking of getting rid. I’m in Edinburgh area. Thanking you all : )

Go to amazon.co.uk and type in AngelSounds
This is a fetal doppler, comes with gel and is about £20 to buy.
I’ve used mine since week 12 and its brilliant!
I know here in the U.S you can buy one at Wal-Mart. I don’t know if the UK has stores like that.
Its about 20 USD which I think is about 11 GBP.
Just playing devils advocate here…but you might want to keep in mind that if you do get a doppler that a ton of stress comes along with it. It’s hard for Dr’s to find baby’s heartbeat sometimes. It’s even harder for a mom to do it. If you’re sure that you won’t freak out any time you can’t find the heartbeat, thinking that something is wrong. Go ahead and get the monitor. If you stress over every little thing…it might be a better idea to re-think getting the monitor.
Now to answer you question…see if your hospital or Dr’s office rents them. Or even a medical supply store. It may be a little cheaper to rent it…that way you can send it back when you are done…or if you decide that you can’t live with it.
Good luck.
Hi, I am 33 weeks pregnant, and I too wanted to buy a foetal doppler, which I did, it cost around £30 and to be honest, it was a total waste of money! I have never been able to hear the baby’s heart beat, or anything else for that matter, it says the monitor works from 20 weeks, well like I said I’m 33 weeks, and still haven’t heard anything, and I’ve had it for 13 weeks now. And everytime I use it, my baby kicks it away!
I would reccomend hiring one to save yourself the money!
Good luck
I have seen them on ebay for hire and after so many months you automatically own them, there are also cheaper 2nd hand ones there as well. However, I asked my midwife about these and she advised against them as you can get too stressed trying to find the babys heartbeat. Bear in mind that these dopplers can pick up your heartbeat as well and unless you know the difference its quite hard to know what your listening for. Personally I would probably become quite obsessed with it and I know I would worry if I couldnt find the heartbeat or it was too slow/fast so I chose just to go with the professionals!
yep angelsounds doppler from amazon. i have one but im only 13weeks pregnant and cant here any thing yet. my friend has one and she is 16weeks and we can hear her baby heart beat soooo clearly, its amazing.
they are recomended for use after 16weeks when you should hear things. until then its fun to see if hubby has a heart beat
:)
hope this helped xx
