Dumb question but…
can you use a fetal doppler on a newborn baby?
my aunty just had her baby a month ago and was wondering…
she has a doppler she used during pregnancy, can she use it on her newborn? it wont hurt the baby or anything?
will it even work?

i am a registered sonographer, licensed since 1986
it is not advisable, ultrasound can bust kidney stones, calcified clots, etc… i would worry about potential retinal injury as well as other problems
certainly not a dumb question!!! do not use unless you are a licensed, medical professional and under the direction of an md!!
it will work but why would you want to do that you can feel the babies heart on your own. i wouldn’t recommend it though because then if you hear something funny you going to get all panic. and it will most likely be nothing.
I used my doppler on my four year old so she could hear her heartbeat and compare it to her brothers when I was pregnant. It’s good fun and educational but you can hear the baby’s heart now he is born by gently laying your head on his chest.
My little girl was desperate to try our on the cat but as its also used with gel and the cat is very hairy that was a no no
