You can rent/buy professional dopplers online like welch/allyn and those should work perfectly because they are what the doctors use. However if you get a mediocre doppler like bebe sounds or something then you probably won't be able to hear the baby till around third trimester when he/she is up against your belly most. Good luck!

Mine didn't work for me, up until about a month ago and even then it is hard to distinguish whether it is my sons or my hearbeat and is very quiet.
Yours may be a better brand though and so could work great.

I had mine from mothercare, I believe its called the summer infant prenatal heart moniter or something along those lines.

They're pretty difficult to use on yourself until you're well in your way to the third trimester.. I hope you have better luck than I did!

I have one. It's the same one they use at the doctors office. It has to be a doppler to pick up the babies heartbeat that early, it can't be one of those Angel sounds ones that come with the head phones. Those are junk.

The real dopplers are usually a little pricier. I bought mine on ebay and it has worked perfectly my whole pregnancy. I am 35 weeks now.

I got mine around 11-12 weeks and heard my babies heartbeat. Don;t freak if you cant find it right away though cause the baby is small and hard to find. Just keep searching around your belly.

Also, remember to get some KY jelly so the probe slides on your belly.

I don't have an at home one but I heard the heart beat at 8weeks 6days in the doctors office. At that point she said there was a 50/50 shot of hearing it but since I was thin she wanted to give it a try.
