I’m thinking about renting one because we are high risk and I think it would put me at ease to be able to check on him whenever I feel uneasy about things.

Heck yes i did!! Next time i’m pregnant i’m just going to buy one. I rented from Babyfm, i added the link below. Some places require a Dr note or something and i actually never told my midwife i had it cause i guess sometimes the DR don’t like it when you have one because if you can’t locate the heart beat you can freak out more often? I don’t know, anyways, BabyFM does not require a Dr note, they would just take the money out of my account monthly until i returned the monitor. I never had a hard time finding her heart beat w/ it. You might want to order an extra thing of the gel i ran out, but lotion does work too, thats what i used the rest of the time.
Some people say the device used to oftern can hurt your baby, but i believe i read in WTEWE that it does not do anything bad to your baby, so maybe study that info too? My baby came out fine and i used it ATLEAST once a week until about 36 weeks because my baby was not a kicker and freaked me out daily.
Oh and make sure you are getting an actual doppler, if its one of those things you can buy for 30 bucks its not a real doppler and does not work well on a lot of people…
I was so excited to get my mine from Belly Beats and I have yet to find the baby’s heartbeat. My doctor has a hard time finding it with doppler as well in his office but its strong on the U/S so maybe its just me. I have a chubby tummy and they say sometimes it is more difficult to find on chubby bellies.
I didn’t rent one, I bought one. They are about $125.00 and worth every dime. My daughter is 15w 1d and when she was 12w 6d she started bleeding and it turned out that everything was fine but now we are constantly worried. The doppler monitor has really eased our minds. We listen to the baby’s heartbeat almost everyday. (with the docs total permission, he said it wouldn’t hurt a thing).
With that being said, don’t waste your money on the ones that you can buy at walmart and other places. They only work after your 7th month.
I ordered ours online. They are awesome.
