Anyone else have no sign of fetal heart beat on doppler at 11 wks?

I went to see my doc who tried to find my babies heart beat on her sonic aid and we heard nothing. She says it is too early in some women and not to worry but I can’t help fretting. I am having my 12 week scan on monday but that seems a long way off at the moment. Can anyone advise?
I am roughly 3 stones overweight so maybe that has something to do with it

my sister did
I coulnd’t hear my baby’s until after 13 weeks
I was a little worried… but now he beats up my insides everyday, lol… some women hear it early.. I didn’t
Your doctor is right. The heartbeat is heard at different times depending on the woman. If you are heavy or have some fat deposits in your belly, the doppler has to go thru all that to pick up the heartbeat. Try to relax and wait for the scan. At 12 weeks, the scan will definitely show the heart beating.
At 11 weeks there is a huge chance that you will not hear heartbeat on doppler from either the way baby is positioned or heartbeat not strong enough yet, or baby still to little. I know that Monday is a long way off to wait, I would call the doctor back and tell him how upset you are and see if they can do your scan today or tomorrow. Try to relax and think positive. Good Luck
I think depending on where the baby is in the uterus is the determining factor in hearing the heartbeat so soon. I didn’t think they even tried to hear it until 16 weeks or so (that’s when I heard both my kids heartbeats) It seems weird to me that they would even attempt to hear it so early. You baby is fine so don’t worry. Remember that worrying isn’t good for you or the baby :O)
i have had 4 kids and with my last they couldnt find the heartbeat untill the 12th week. of course i freaked out at first but everything went fine. if you cant wait call your doctor and tell them how you feel, i know mine would do the scan if i thought something was wrong. insurance only allows so many scans but if there is a problem they have to let you have it done. but if i was you dont worry, try to keep your mind off of it, its really not a big deal. God Bless!
Hi
I didn’t hear both my babies until 13wks. The midwife will now be able to feel the top of your womb over the pubic bone - which indicates that the baby is growing - if she couldn’t feel that she would be a lot more worried.
Some babies, even at this early stage are little devils and lie weird so the heartbeat cannot be detected.
I am sure all will be well, please let us know how it goes!!!
Its very normal not to hear it at such an early gestational period. If the doctor was worried in any way he would have sent you for a scan there and then. Its easy to worry i know but Monday is only a few days away and when you see your baby kicking and moving and there little heart beat pumping you’ll wonder what all the worrying and stress was about. Good luck i have all the confidence your baby is fine. If its any help my doctor would not even try at 12 weeks said there is no point its very hard to find as the baby is so small and only causes distress to the mother when not found. I’m 31 weeks and feeling my baby moving and kicking all the time. Good luck.
this is strange as ive never known this to happen especially at 11 weeks,a heart beat is present at 6 wks, maybe your doctor is trying to pass the buck,if i were you i would ring your gp and have him send you to the hospitals early assesment scans if you ring now he can do you a form for you to collect as at my hospital these are done at 8.30am a queing system 1st come seen 1st etc.best wishes.xx
I didn’t hear mine til I was 14 weeks, I also tried at 11 weeks but failed. Don’t worry you are fine. Good luck and congrats!!!
Don’t worry… not sure about your body size S, M or L. Sometimes it is harder to hear the fetal heart when it is so small especially if your are larger. And sometimes it has nothing to do with body type at all and has to do with the little bug jumping all around. I feel that you doctor should have looked for the fetal heart beat with ultrasound to confirm and to reassure you.
Try not to worry yourself. On monday you’ll get to see your little one. In early pregnancy its hard to stay calm when you don’t really have any symptoms anymore, can’t feel the baby yet, and aren’t showing. I know it isn’t much help, but try to relax. Best of luck.
It is probably to early.
Try not to worry about it.
11 weeks is generally too early to get a heartbeat, and it was irresponsible of your doctor to try because it’s bound to cause unnecessary worry. No one tried to listen to mine until I was 16 weeks as it’s too hard to hear before then.
Doctors are not always good at finding the heartbeat, mine couldn’t at 12 weeks. He was also unable to find the heartbeat at 20 weeks even though i could feel my baby moving whilst he was doing it! dont panic.
I heard both mine a 12 weeks and 4 days. It depends on the doppler and remember the baby is still tiiiiiiny so it’s easy to miss in there.
my midwife refused to check heartbeat for me on sonic aid before 16 weeks as its really difficult to pick it up and she didn’t like to worry mothers if it wasn’t heard. you have to remember how tiny your baby is at the moment, it has a tiny little heartbeat so it will be difficult to hear. fretting will make you ill.
