I tried to use an at-home fetal heart monitor with both of my pregnancies, but it didn't work. I had myself unnecessarily worried, too. I also had a miscarriage before getting pregnant with my first child. I KNOW that it is nerve-wracking and that you just want everything to be fine with your baby. But getting yourself worked up and nervous isn't good for you or your baby. Try waiting for a few more weeks until you listen again. Your baby could also be in a position where is it hard to hear the heartbeat.

Calm down hun..your not going to be able to pick up the FHB real well with a doppler until around 13-14 weeks!

ETA ~ Make sure you know what sound your looking for as well...a 'shoosh shoosh' sound is the placenta..'gallop' like a horse is FHB and should be around 120-160 avg...depending on how active baby is at the time.

You are freaking out because you don't want to lose this one, totally understandable. But the more stress you put on yourself the unheathier it gets. Try to relax, focus on yourself, feeling good, and your baby. I think you should stop using that machine because its only making you worse.

You need to put the doppler down, it seems to be making you worry more. Dont stress it, let nature take its course. You should be fine. Good luck to you!

First of all...RELAX. Back away from the monitor...slowly...that's it...and put it in the closet... there you go...now...leave it there.

Seriously...don't use it.

It is only adding stress and you need to be stress free.

Work on the baby journal, baby book, plans for the nursery, go for a walk, go the mall and window shop, go to Toys 'r Us and plan what things you would like on your wishlist (they have a cool registry there), go the library and research child rearing, birth, etc., go visit a friend or relative you haven't seen in a while, call your friends on the phone, make a yummy snack for you and the baby... change your focus. Reduce your stress. Rest. Relax. Enjoy being pregnant. Be happy, not fearful.

:-)

I'll say an extra prayer fo you too.
