Can having too many ultrasounds in pregnancy cause a baby to be born mentally challenged or brain damaged? I have had to have several ultrasounds (several level 2) since I have had some issues with this pregnancy. I also use a fetal doppler to monitor the little one. I only use the doppler a few times a week for about 2 minutes each time. Could I have hurt my baby or caused it to have brain damage from all of the ultrasounds and the doppler. Help!

I am so upset and could really use some advice. I just got back from my monthly dr.’s appt. and this time I saw a another dr. in the practice, whom I had not met before. She had a nurse in training in the room with her, which kind of made me uncomfortable but I figured it wasn’t a huge deal. Anyways, I have never felt so belittled and terrible by a person. I came in there with questions that have been bothering me for awhile. The one question I asked her made me bawl my eyes out. I told her I purchased I fetal doppler early in my pregnancy and have been using it for awhile. Before I could finish my sentence, she told me to get rid of it right away and get my money back. She stated that I am not a trained professional and should have never purchased it and that I could be doing so much harm to my baby. She made me feel like a terrible mother! Is she right? Can fetal dopplers cause harm to my baby?

I have read that using a fetal heart doppler a lot can hurt the baby and the umbilical cord, is this true?!?! I listen to my babies heart beat once a week, if that, and then of course during my OB appts. If anyone has heard of this or knows anything please lemme know…Thanks!!!

I don’t know why…I guess because I’ve always wanted a son and now I’m almost 20 weeks with one. I’ve seen him 3 times on sonograms, most recently on the 18th, and he’s active and has a heartbeat of 156-160 all the time. I’ve never been told anything is wrong at the sonogram. He’s measuring 3 days behind (not a big deal right?) and always hear his heartbeat and movement with the fetal doppler at home. I’ve felt him move for 6 weeks now…but still, how do you get over it. I’d hate to lose him…

I am 16 weeks 3 days pregnant with my first child and cannot stop worrying! I always feel like something could be wrong with my baby or something happened to him/her. I am always afraid of having a miscarriage. I know that the risk of having a miscarriage at this point is low, I even asked my doctor and she said that it is less than 1% chance but "anything can happen." That made me even more worried when she said that! I use a fetal doppler every other day and hear a very strong heartbeat everytime. Should I be so worried? Is this normal? Do I have a good chance of delivering a healthy baby? Help!

I use a fetal doppler with my baby about every other day just to make sure that everything is ok. I read recently that a doppler is very loud in the womb, as loud as a helicopter hovering over a house. Could this cause my baby to go deaf? I feel like I am using it too much and may have done damage yet I have also read other women using their dopplers every day and sometimes several times a day!

Im 15w2d, first baby. I havent had an ultrasound done since 9w and then went back to doc at 12w and heard a strong heartbeat w doppler. ( Ive heard the heartbeat since 6 weeks on ultrasound ) My friend lost her baby at 16, was told it only grew until 14w. Im nervous now bc I don’t go back until 19w and that is when we find out what we are having. I do however own an at home fetal doppler so Im lucky enough to listen to my babys heartbeat everyday and it still sounds strong. Should I be worried?? I called my doc to see if I could have an ultrasound done next week when I go for a normal OB check but they havent returned my call yet.
So if I hear a strong heart beat every day at home that means the baby is growing on track correct??
So if her baby was only 14 when it should have been 16 does that mean they couldnt find a heart beat? That is just stopped growing?? I wish I could ask her but I dont want to push the subject at the moment. Thanks for all the help ladies! Im a worry freak so this all helps

My first ultrasound was at the hospital an i found out i was 2-3 weeks along. the tech saw the sac but couldn’t see the baby so the doctor determined that i was very early in my pregnancy…very weird considering the home pregnancy test showed up positive, an i thought you has to be like 4 weeks for anything to register on a home test.. anyways. my next ultrasound was about 3 weeks later at my doctors office..where we found out i was 8 weeks an 3 days.. how that adds up i have NO IDEA.. but i am now 18 weeks an wayy bigger than i was with my daughter. i couldn’t eat barley at all during my first trimester due to nausea, an now that i am able to eat(EVERYTHING) I’m still NOT gaining weight..but still getting bigger. i also bought a home fetal doppler that works really well and my mother in law an myself heard 2 different heartbeats the other day..but when i went to my doctor 3 days later an told him he swears that there is only one baby.. here was my 8wk ultrasound.. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??

i know for a fact that it wasn’t my heartbeat cause mine is much slower. like 85 an these heartbeats were around 135 and 160-165.. that’s a big difference.

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. Ever since I found out I am pregnant, I swear I have been stressing over something every single day. I have had several screaming and crying arguments with my husband and I have been freaking out over every little thing that relates to pregnancy, like contracting listeria or toxoplasmosis. I was so afriad of contracting toxoplasmosis that I had a blood test done and freaked out and stressed for days before I got my results (they were negative for toxo). I am super worried I am causing my baby to slowly die or that my stress could kill my baby. I use a fetal doppler every few days to check the baby’s heart beat and always feel better when I hear it. Could my stressing kill my baby? I read in "what to expect when you’re expecting" that emotional stress cannot cause a miscarriage. Is this true?

I’m 14 weeks pregnant and I’ve had 3 ultrasounds (6 wks, 8 wks, 10 wks) and there was a heartbeat and my baby was kicking but they haven’t used a doppler yet. When I went in for a checkup at 10 weeks they said it was too early to hear a heartbeat so they didn’t do it, but I’ve read of people hearing it really early on? I have an appointment tomorrow, will they listen for a heartbeat then? I’m really excited to hear it cause I’ve never heard a fetal heartbeat before.

Ok, before I went in to my ultra sound at 18 weeks I had spotted slightly. When I went in for the ultrasound the tech tried to evaluate the heart of the baby and she kept saying…"Oh! She moved! And she was having difficulty obtaining it because the heartbeat would stop. I followed her to the exam room and she was whispering to the doctor and that had me concerned. First of all does the babies movement affect the techs analysis of the heart? The doctor then did the exam and listened to the fetal heartbeat with a doppler and it would beat fast slow stop for a second and beat fast again. Anyone else have this problem? This doctor has always been vague and I was afraid to ask questions in fear of getting a horrible answer all he said was that I will have another exam in two weeks. That was a week ago. I have spotted again today a very small amount but I keep assuring myself that I feel fetal movement. But I’m not sure if it is or just muscle spasms. I feel them throughout my body and its similar to what I think is the fetal movement. Its rapid so unless she can kick like a ninja I’m afraid to put false hope in this movement. So my question is has anyone had the heartbeat problem before with very slight spotting and what did it mean? And also if the rapid movement in the uterus area is fetal movement or a spasm?

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant.I went to my doctor’s last week for my monthly checkup. While I was there, I figured I would ask him about my fetal doppler I purchased a few weeks ago, a Sonoline C1 doppler. I asked him if it is dangerous in any way. The only thing he told me was to "not go crazy with it." Now I am starting to feel nervous about what he meant by that. Are fetal dopplers actually dangerous to the baby? Can they kill it like causing it’s heart to stop beating? I’m super worried and could use some advice. Are dopplers actually dangerous and do you think my doctor meant to say that? Help!

Last week, I purchased a Sonoline fetal doppler. I am currently almost 12 weeks along. For the past couple of days, I have been listening to my baby’s heart beat, at least, I think it is my baby’s heart beat. I can hear mine sometimes and it is slow and when I think I hear my baby’s, it is very fast- almost twice as fast as mine. Is this the baby’s heart beat or is it the placenta? Would the planceta be pumping blood as fast as the baby’s heart? I’m just confused!

My sister is about 13 weeks pregnant and wants to buy a fetal heart rate monitor, we need to know what the best FDA approved monitor, within reason price-wise for quality and reliability would be?
Thank you!
We just want to hear the babies heart beat. We don’t need a reason for that, I would only like real answers naming the brand of doppler please!
