My doctor has me down March 23 to check the anatomy of the baby!! That’s SOOO far away! Is there any way I could possibly talk them into letting me know sooner??

Also, I have been very paranoid these past 14 weeks of having a miscarriage. I think to put my mind at ease, I’m going to buy or rent a fetal doppler. To me that’s money WELL spent. Does anyone know where I could get one? I know Ebay and other online places are a good start but I was wondering if any local stores sell them, like Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer??

Is it possible that i have a tipped uterus?

I am 13 weeks pregnant with a high risk pregnancy and i had 2 miscarriages when i was 15 and i had a premature birth at 16 which i had a c-section with at 34 weeks but i started contracting and dilating at 28 weeks my baby was 8 pounds though she was alright. Now that i’m 13 weeks pregnant a few weeks ago i was spotting and i do have sharp stabbing pains on my sides and abdomen now but the baby is fine on the ultra sound although we still haven’t been able to hear the heartbeat on the fetal doppler yet. (with my first baby i heard it at 9 weeks) i have leg cramps practically all day and i can’t empty my bladder completely so i have to be peeing all day so i can completely empty my bladder and i have recurrent bladder infections and antibiotics are not working anymore they tried using a catheter but it was extremely painful and i bled so now i don’t know what to do do you think i could have a tipped uterus?
Sorry but no i don’t have no STD i have been with the same boy for 4 years already and weve both been checked millions of times.
also the lady inserting a catheter was like a assistant or something cuz she kept on poking me with the catheter and saying oops sorry and laughing.

The second time with real nurses it hurted alot but no bleeding they said my bladder might be swollen and irritated.

Im 19 weeks pregnant and have been suffering with diarrhea for 8 days now. I have no fever or sickness, and i dont have any abdominal pain. I have a fetal doppler and my baby’s heartbeat is fine. Up until last week i was suffering with constipation. Is it normal to suffer with diarrhea when pregnant? Thank you in advance for your answers.
There has been one full day in the past 8 days that i didn’t have diarrhea, so i suppose there has been a break in them 8 days. And i feel fine in myself.

21 weeks pregnant and spotting?

Hello ladies,

I’m 21w 3d pregnant and so far my pregnancy has been fine. We found out we’re having a girl and she’s healthy. Today though I had a little scare. I went to the restroom and when I wiped (TMI) I noticed a very small brownish colored spot on the toilet paper. It looked like old blood. This only happened this one time and when I got home I grabbed my fetal doppler to listen to her heartbeat. I found it right away and it was 140-145 bpm. I overly cautious because in December 2008 I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. My question is, is this spotting normal at 21 weeks or should I be worried? I haven ‘t had any cramps and everything has been fine. Thanks

How do the babies move in there?

I’m currently 15wks1dy pregnant. I have a fetal doppler. I listen to my little one every few days. When he/she is awake, I’ll find his/her heartbeat on one side. A couple seconds later, the heartbeat is in a completely different position! I’m looking at 15wk ultrasounds on youtube & I’ve noticed how small the uterus is at the time. Just barely fitting around them. Yet, how is the baby able to move about so freely as mine is?

THANKS!

So I’m 15 weeks pregnant and lately, I’ve been feeling a small hard bump just slightly above my pubic bone to the right a bit. The bump comes and goes but when it’s there it feeling like something nudging in my uterus. It’s not painful but it’s not the "fluttery" kicks I’ve read other people say they have when they can feel their baby. I have a fetal doppler at home and when I place it directly on the bulge I clearly get a strong baby heartbeat.

So it must be the baby then, right? But how come it bulges out like that and not in the middle of my uterus? Does this have anything with the way the baby has implanted itself in my uterus? Just wondering if anyone has experienc the same thing.

Baby not moving much at 21 weeks?

This is my 2nd pregnancy , and i am feeling hardly any movement, im 21 weeks. I have been feeling movement since about 16 weeks , but its still remained the same, maybe a few flutters a day. I know she is not a lazy baby as she can never be detected on the fetal doppler due to her moving so much. But with my 1st pregnancy by this stage the kicks were very noticible and happening alot more often then this.
Just wondering if anyone else had this happen in the 2nd pregnancy? also should i be worried maybe about a cord around the neck or arm or soemtthing? Would this be restricting movement?

pregnancy question?

Hi, I’m in my 28th week of pregnancy and was wondering if this is "of the norm" as far as third trimester goes…Today while at work I started having some slight round ligament pains…Which I’ve started to get again for the past couple of weeks. This time though, they were accompanied by pains in my legs and what felt like a little weakness in my legs. Also, I had a little lower back pain, but it all subsided and in the meantime i got out my fetal doppler to check baby’s heart rate which was good….Is this normal…I have a doctors appt tomorrow so I;m not super worried…but just wanted some advice in the meantime.

what should I do?

Okay, since last night i’ve hardly felt my baby move. Her movements aren’t totally gone, but not at all like her normal ones. She might move for a second then not at all for hours and that’s not her typical movement pattern. I have a fetal doppler though and her heart rate has been from the 140’s-150’s. I’m just not sure if I should go to the hospital. I’m kinda worried that I’m going to go and shes gonna start getting active. I’m a little more worried about it though because I’ve started to get signs of preeclampsia and I don’t feel weird, but her not moving as much kinda scares me. I’m also 33 weeks. Should I go to the hospital or wait it out?
my doc’s office is closed on the weekends, I already tried to call.

baby changing to breech position?

i’m 28 weeks 4 days and i was wondering if the baby changing from a head down position to a breech position could affect the movements i feel? When i had my last sonogram 3 weeks ago, he was in a head down position. I had been feeling a lot of strong kicks and/or punches before last week. this week i still feel him move, but i mostly feel him changing positions or stretching and a few punches/kicks. i don’t feel him move as much on the upper part of my belly like i did before. i just checked his heartbeat with the fetal doppler and i found it high on my stomach so i’m guessing he is head up considering where his heart beat was.

does the baby changing into a breech position change the movements i feel? could he already be running out of room to kick as much as he did before? i’m short so i know there is probably less room but i don’t know if this has anything to do with him movements changing more into rolling movements. his heartbeat was good in the 150s which is what is normally is.

i go to the doc on monday and i’ll ask him too but i’m just curious. thanks.

Im worried about my pregnancy?

I am 11 weeks pregnant with my first child, and lately I have been having some bad cramping, but it does go away after a while so I’m not too worried. I went and heard the heart beat on the 6th, it was at 170 bpm. Which is good. I bought my own Fetal Doppler so that I could hear it at home, but I cant seem to find it that well, and when I find a heartbeat, it sounds slow and not like the one I heard at the DR. Today I tried again and I couldn’t find one at all. I’m scared that the heartbeat has stopped. What should I do? I’m worried about the baby, I don’t know what to do, or if I should worry, but I don’t know what to believe about miscarriages. I hear it can be cramps and bleeding, cramps and no bleeding till later, and nothing at all till later, so I don’t know what to think or do. Please help me. I’m scared to lose it.

fetal heartbeat vs. my heartbeat w/ HI bebe?

I am 11 weeks today and have been using a HI bebe doppler to listen to my baby’s heartbeat since Thursday. It was consistent and muffled yet relatively slow(around 75 bpm) Well, today while listening to it I stumbled upon a different sound that was more like a gallop and was around 165 bpm. At this point I’m realizing that this gallop was the actual heartbeat. My question is: what was I hearing before?

I’m 27wks. For the past few days, I’ve noticed a drastic decrease in fetal movement. I only feel her maybe once a day now & it’s when she’s breach - I feel her feet kicking really low. Before this, she was VERY active. I mean VERY active. So I’m beginning to become a bit concerned.

The only thing that keeps my mind at ease is that I have a fetal doppler (that I ordered when I was 13wks & received at 14wks). So I know she’s ok bc her heartrate stays around 140bpm, but she hasn’t been moving much.

Should I call my doc first thing in the morning or just wait until my appt in 8 days (4/20/09)?

THANKS!

Who has had a missed miscarriage?

I would know if I have had a regular miscarriage, as I’d be bleeding and cramping and all that. but what scares me is the missed miscarriages. I heard that preg symptoms should usually decrease in that situation but not always, and a woman could still experience soar breasts and nausea even after the fact. so I’m wondering, for those who have experienced them, did you feel ANYTHING at all, or were you completely shocked at the ultrasound? I know one woman said she just "didn’t feel pregnant" anymore. I’m wondering if that was the case with other woman, too

basically, this is my first baby and I’m, of course, just being paranoid since I’m 2 months but still have not gone in to hear the heartbeat. I’m going to set up an appointment this week but if it’s too far ahead I’m considering just ordering a fetal doppler and seeing if I can hear the heartbeat myself, just to calm my fears. How soon can a doppler pick up the heartbeat? because I heard it takes a little longer to pick it up than an ultrasound would

I am 16 weeks along, and had to go into the doctor’s office because I was spotting (again). The dr used a fetal doppler and heard the heartbeat in two locations. The heartbeats were at different rates (not far apart..one was 143, the other 152) He also heard an echoing of beats when he was on one of them. He said there is a small chance it could be twins, but wants to do an ultrasound to see.I have had two ultrasounds already, and they only showed one baby. Is it possible to be 16 weeks along & not know you are having twins?
How far along were you when you find out you were having twins? How did you find out (ultrasound, doppler, female intuition)?
Thank you :)

why I can’t lie on my back anymore? (on hard surfaces)
It’s not because I can’t breathe.. But it hurts really bad…
I went to the doctor last wk and I was in so much pain when I laid back so she could hear the heartbeat of my baby.. And it felt even WORSE when she placed the stethoscope (fetal doppler) on my tummy.. Lots of sharp stabbing pains by pelvis and where she placed the Doppler.. Can anyone tell me why..?

Please & thank you

Ps: they were not contractions/BHs

I will ask my doctor when I go back next week but I’m really curious:)

Hearing the baby's heartbeat?

Okay, so I bought a fetal doppler and found the heartbeat…….but yet I’m so incredibly confused. Can your baby heartbeat range from 140 to 160? I kept moving the doppler in two different locations, which I understand that you can get the heartbeat in more than one location. But….when I first got it, it was 142. Then I moved it to a different area facing the probe away from the other area and got 155. Whenever I went to the one side it was lower like 140-142. Then when I went to the other side I got 155-160. At the doctor’s office, I have only heard the heartbeat once, since the second midwife had such a hard time with it, but it was 142 then. Anybody else have this happen? Can you baby’s heartbeat range like that, when your going in two different locations? I was only listening a total of a minute or less.
It’s a fetal doppler, not ultrasound. It was a simple question, if you don’t have an answer then don’t respond!
I’m not stressed, I was curious. I have two other children, I understand heartbeats. I’ve never had a fetal doppler of mine own before. And to the one who said that your baby’s heartbeat is the same as the mom’s, go read some medical books! Your heartbeat should be significantly lower than your babies. People’s ignorance is driving me crazy this pregnancy!

Can't hear a heartbeat at 16 weeks?

I’m 16 weeks and I purchased a Sonotrax Fetal Doppler today, with anticipation of hearing my baby’s heartbeat. Which I have not heard at the Doctors Office yet. Point being, I’ve searched around for about 30 minutes now and I can’t hear a heartbeat. I’m beginning to start to worry.. Maybe I’m just using the doppler wrong, or the baby is positioned wrong!? Anyone used one of these dopplers and not been able to hear a heartbeat?
Thanks help ladies, it’s putting my mind at ease for the most part. But like I said, I have yet to hear the heartbeat at the Doctors Office nor have I got a ultrasound yet (I don’t get one till 20 weeks)! So I’m trying my best not to worry! My next appointment is 2 weeks away..

Baby Movements ?

Hi I have been feeling my baby move for ages now, I am now 21 weeks and for about 2 weeks I still can feel the baby move like I was, but every now and then I get like a feeling like something tugging inside, its weirid, feels a little but like a drop when going down a roller coaster but not as bad very light, but fast, and I can just describe it like a pulling.downwards

I have a fetal doppler moniter a home one and when he was kicking on the doppler I could feel these movements, they feel down low, but when I went for my 20 week scan yeatesday at 20 weeks 6 days, my baby was up by my belly button.

Could it just be my baby doing quick turns or kicks and movements, or could it be something else. I told my midwife and she said its probably my baby moving, but no one I know describes it like this, only the normal movements you feel.

Everything was ok with my baby, but it would just like to know if anyone has experiacnes this feeling or something like it thanks

I am sorry for the long post … or rant as some may say … but I am very upset right now!

This is my first pregnancy. I am 13 weeks and 4 days. I found out at 5 weeks. At first, I was shocked because I was always told I had something wrong with my reproductive system. I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had a fibroid. I had a dilated tube. I was not ovulating regularly. Honestly, I never thought I’d get pregnant unless it was in God’s will and it was because he made it happen. We have been married for 5 years and I never got pregnant. I had a fibroid removed in March 2009 and here I am today!

I have had three ultrasounds so far (8 weeks, 9 weeks and 12 weeks) due to some brown discharge. Everything is going well so far. The truth is, I am a worry wart and although I pray and have faith in God, it’s sometimes difficult for me to relax. I just want everything to go well and I want to deliver a healthy baby. The problem is, my husband seems to think I’m too anxious and nervous. I am a very high strung person. I have always been that way. I am very proactive and would rather be on top of things than in be in the dark.

I had mentioned purchasing a fetal doppler from the store a few weeks ago. He was against the idea but said if I felt it was absolutely necessary he thought I should get it. I let a few weeks go by and said something about it again yesterday. He said the same exact thing. So, I stopped by the store on the way home, picked one up, and was reading the instructions while in bed last night. He saw the manual lying on the bed and picked it up. He looked at me in shock, as if he had no idea I was going to purchase it. When I asked him what was wrong he said he had no idea I’d actually do it.

Then he made a remark that really upset me. He asked why I couldn’t just enjoy my pregnancy and relax like everyone else. Well truth be told, there are many women who have the same anxieties I have. Not just amongst first time mothers but mothers who are pregnant with their second, third and even fourth child. It’s not to say I am thinking negative, because I really try not to, but it would be put me more at ease to have a doppler where I could hear the heartbeat between visits. He doesn’t understand this. The only thing that seems acceptable to him is that I act the way he thinks I should act.

Also, we are having a huge problem trying to think of names. We won’t find out the sex until around 20 weeks, but we wanted to have some names picked out before then. I don’t like most of his names and he doesn’t like most of mine. However, there is a handful that we’ve been able to agree upon together. We are african-american and he feels my names don’t reflect that. My name is very uncommon for an african-american. As a matter of fact, I’ve only known two other women in my life (one who was mixed with black and white) with my name. Not to say there aren’t more out there, but my point is, what does it matter?

My thing is I don’t like ghetto names. I don’t care if they’re african-american, white, Asian, or whatever, as long as they’re cute and we like them. It’s not likely that I would use an Asian name such as Chang or Thong, but again, my point, what would it matter if we liked it? Most of my husband’s names are traditional, plain and common. Either that or they sound like something from the 60’s or 70’s. I don’t want weird, although some of my names could be labeled that way, but I want unique or uncommon. When he voices his opinion about the names I choose it does annoy me, but I just move on the next name. When I voice my opinion about the names he chooses he gets upset.

Last night he suggested the name Broderick. I don’t like it. It sounds like someone in their 50’s. That’s how I usually justify not liking a name, by telling him what it reminds me of. I guess I’d drove him to his limit last night because he said he was done and didn’t want anything else to do with it. He told me that since I don’t like any of his names, and most of my names seem to lean toward “other” races, that I could pick the name and he’ll just sign the birth certificate and other paperwork he needs to sign. I thought he was just playing but when I mentioned a name to his this morning, via text message, he said I must have forgotten what he’d said last night.

I am a very opinionated person, I must admit. But I don’t shut down when others don’t agree with me. It makes me feel like I’ve done something wrong. I thought I was supposed to have freedom of speech.

I rented a fetal doppler online about 5-6 weeks ago. I was right around 13 weeks at the time. I always listen to my baby twice a day. It helps to ease my mind. I will listen to it for a few minutes and that’s it.

I noticed the heartbeat would be beating fast like normal, and then it would slow way down, then pick back up within seconds. It never stopped or missed a beat, as far as I could tell, but it would sound like galloping horses one minute and the next minutes it would significantly slow down, and within 3-5 seconds it would speed back up to normal and keep beating like normal. I noticed it did that yesterday as well.

I had my ultrasound on Monday and I was 19 weeks and 1 day. He checked through the heart, there were four chambers, the kidneys, etc. and said everything was fine. I forgot to mention the heartbeat issue to him that day because I was so excited to find out the gender and to hear how my baby was doing.

I have only met with the nurse practioner once and she used a doppler to measure the heartbeat, but she only listed to it for about a minute and it sounded normal. I didn’t even think to mention it then!!! I thought about calling the doctor’s office to tell them about it but don’t know if it’s worth doing.

Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any information on what could cause this?
I am currently 19 weeks + 5 days with #1 and it’s a boy! Yay. Thank God!

Heartbeat but can't get baby to move?

I have a fetal doppler and heard the babies heartbeat and sounds fine. I can not get him to move though. Even when i pressed the doppler into him.

Is it ok if i get a heartbeat but can’t get him to move? Thanks (36 weeks)

Help! me please!?

I’m 11 weeks pregnant and i went to my prenatal visit and they still couldn’t hear the baby’s heartbeat through the fetal doppler but they could hear it fine through the ultrasound i have a high risk pregnancy also by the way
thank you so much guys for all the good answers except for the first one! LOL

Fetal movement at 39 weeks?

The baby still moves, but it has slowed down over the last few days. I have a doppler at home, and he has a good strong heartbeat, plus when I go to the doc once a week, they say that he is good!! Just wondering, is it true that movement slows down the closer you are to labor?? Or has it slowed because he is running out of room?? thanks!
