My boyfriend and I borrowed a fetal doppler from a friend and I can’t hear the heartbeat of my baby. I’m eight weeks pregnant and I’m really worried. I slipped down some steps last night but the friend we’ve borrowed the doppler from assured me the baby is still too small to be hurt so I believed her but was still worried at the back of my mind. I trusted her as she’s had four children and she’s been helping me figure out what I need and how to plan things out. Should I go to the hospital or am I worrying over nothing?

fetal doppler………………?

When can you hear the babies heartbeat using a fetal doppler? I mean one of those that are at the office not that you buy for at walmart. Do you remember how many weeks you were when your dr/midwife found the heartbeat with one?

at every prenatal appointment when they listen to the heart beat with the doppler the doctor jokingly says it sounds like a boy
every doctor has told me this and
im having my ultrasound tommorrow!
i know it’s considered an old wives tale but is there any truth to this?
has anyone had experience with this that says otherwise?

Fetal Heart Doppler?

I want to get a Fetal heart Doppler, i live in Australia does anyone know where i can get one for cheap…. i dont want to pay over … can anyone help?? thanks

Are there some paints that I can paint with?

I’m 4 months along and I really wanna get started on my walls before the new carpet comes! Are there pregnant-safe paints?

Can you rent a fetal doppler for less than /month? I definately have to do the monthly payments–Just curious to see if anyone found a cheaper source.

24 days until my ultrasound!!! woohoo! Cross those fingers and toes for a little girl!

are fetal heart dopplers dangerous?

I have rented a fetal heart doppler to listen to my unborn babies heartbeat and it occurred to me yesterday that I don’t know if it can potentially harm my baby? Does anyone know?

I am starting to monitor my babies heart rate with a doppler, is it normal for the babies heart rate to be slower in the morning, and speed up in the afternoons?

I am pregnant with twins and worry as one baby is much more active - so wondered whether a doppler would give me some reassurance? But say I try to listen to the baby situated on the back right - will I just hear baby on the front left heartbeat?

I went in and the did an ultrasound because the fetal doppler couldn’t detect the heartbeat. It displayed that it was 150 and when i heard the heartbeat it was pretty fast. Most people say a fast heartbeat means a girl, others say a fast heartbeat means that it is strong and the baby is healthy. I want a healthy baby no matter what, but is there a possibility that it could still be a boy?

Hi all,

I was just doing some browsing for baby stuff on eBay and I found listings for fetal heartrate dopplers for at-home use!

I’m 11 weeks pregnant and have been in and out of hospital in the past 2 weeks for bleeding. And now the hospital says I can’t get emergency ultra sounds anymore because my bleeding appears to be a normal part of my pregnancy. It’s still scary as hell (had a m/c in April this year) I really would love one of these to help me relax whenever I think something is wrong!

But I was wondering if they are any good before I go spending my money, has anyone gotten one of these or know someone that has? Are they any good?

I just bought a BF500++ Fetal Doppler with display. I am 9 and a half weeks. I dont have a scan until I’m 13 weeks unfortunately and didn’t want to wait that long to make sure I could hear heartbeat. I got the doppler today and quickly tried to use it at lunchtime from work. It was picking up heartbeat as it was going from 000 to 127 and above, but kept fluctuating, and it did move about, so had to find it quite a lot, could this of caused the difference in readings, I was just expecting one reading and that was it. What should the heart rate be at this stage? and what happens if it picks up that it’s a little slower than it should be? Any tips on using them, ie do I need lots of gel on? Do I need to lie down? Etc. Any help would be gratefully received.
Why are some people saying I won’t be able to hear it till after 13 weeks, thats not right at all, everyone’s different, and it certainly wasn’t my heartbeat, unless I’d been running beforehand! Its a medical doppler that is used by midwives so it will work earlier, I just wanted to clarify roughly what the heartbeat should be, as it did register on the monitor quite a lot.
Didn’t really sound like a heartbeat, just noise, strange, but nice :oD
To the nurse who commented - so nobody at 9 and a half weeks has ever picked up a heartbeat on a medical doppler, complete rubbish!!! I know a lot of people who have, what exactly was it reading then if not a heartbeat!? and why is it a waste of money, it’s something to keep to listen to your baby right till it arrives, why is that a waste of money!? Lets hope I never get treated by someone as cold as you - mind you, the amount of nurses I’ve met in the last 2 months (nothing related to my pregnancy) my grandad’s illness and then passing and going by your comment, you’re all the same!!!!
Thanks for everyone thats been helpful and given me tips - and to those who haven’t I hope you never ask for help or hints. I’m only excited, isn’t that natural, I don’t expect ‘god’ or ‘waste of money’ to be thrown in my face!

What is normal fetal movement at 26 weeks?

I am 26 weeks pregnant with my second child and am concerned because this baby doesnt move often and when he does move, the movements are just little twists or nudges- no big kicks. My daughter had moved all the time, and they were vigorous movements! I just had an ultrasound 6 days ago and was told that baby was growing fine and that all looked well (although his size is only in the 30th percentile). I have a fetal doppler and the heartrate is always in normal range. Has anyone else had two or more children and noticed a drastic difference in the amount and strength of movements like I have? I feel him have 2-3 ’spurts’ of movement a day, usually lasting 10-20 min each, where its just little pokes and whatnot….I’m sick with worry…. I’m looking for answers based more on personal experience than the "oh everyones different, call your doctor if you’re worried"

While listening with my fetal Doppler, I have actually heard my baby’s heartbeat speed up quite rapidly on two separate occasions. Both times, coincidentally, I had finished drinking about 1/2 can of Diet Pepsi. Has anyone else actually heard the heartbeat speed up while listening in a short period of time and know what this could be attributed to? Could it be sensing the Doppler and reacting to the sound waves?
Also, I am 12 weeks 2 days pregnant and have been hearing the heartbeat since 9 weeks 3 days with a home fetal Doppler. On ultrasound at 8 weeks 2 days, the heartbeat was 180. It has stayed between 160 and 170 since then.

Hey, so according to my LMP im 11 weeks today, according to my last ultrasound, im 12 weeks tomorrow… so anyway, my arnp tried to listen for a heart tone today, and she THOUGHT she heard it but she said the baby was moving and couldnt keep the doppler on it long enough… should I be worried that I havent heard it? I had a miscarriage in Oct, and the same thing happened, I couldnt hear a heartbeat and then i found out i had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks and I was 12… so help :(

Can you hear kicks on fetal doppler this early?

Ive been using a fetal doppler from 11 weeks and i usually picked up the heartbeat, swooshing and my own heartbeat. Now i get sudden really loud noises and i dont know if its the baby kicking or something. Would i be able to hear it this early…im 15 weeks tomorrow by the way

Is fetal heart rate of 190 bpm to high at 34 weeks?

The past two ultrasounds iv had the babies heart rate has been up to 190 bpm, so the Dr put me on the monitors for 20 minutes and it always goes down, but when I check at home with the fetal doppler i rented it has been 190 as well, what causes this and is that too high at 34 weeks?
It is definetly the babies heart rate, the ultrasound showed that… our 1st daughter was stillborn at 36 weeks for unknown reason… thats why i am so concerned…i just want to know if that is to high so i can say something on friday at my next visit…

Fetal heart rate @ 34 weeks?

I’m currently 34 weeks 3 days pregnant and have a home fetal doppler to monitor the FHR. Although the FHR varies anywhere from the 120’s to the 150’s with accelerations even in the 160’s, I’ve noticed on a couple of occasions starting this past week that occasionally it seems to average around 117-121 with the range going as low as 110 for a few seconds. Is this too low for this stage of pregnancy? This is not occuring the majority of the time and as I said above, his heart rate changes throughout the day, in fact this morning it was at 146. Is it okay for the FHR to have a baseline from 117-121 with variations going down to 110 for a few seconds?
Thanks for the replies! I just can’t help but worry when his heart rate is lingering in the 110’s to 120 but I guess the rate is supposed to slow as the baby gets closer to term.

fetal heartrate…?

Hi, I asked this question earlier and I dunno thought I would ask again…I’m 23 weeks pregnant and have a fetal doppler…Well, the heartrate has been great, but lately it’s been kinda strange…like the heartrate will be perfectly normal then it will suddenly drop…then speed up again…I’ll give an example W being the beats===WWWWWWW…W…W..W..WWWWWW….etc. this doesn’t happen constantly, but it has been happening lately….Has anyone else experienced this…and if so please give me some advice I really don’t want to worry alot but it’s kinda scary. As far as movement and everything else though its fine. The baby moves right after I eat for about 30 minutes and sometimes longer…

Fetal Movement…20 weeks?

Okay guys…I have a question, I am now 20 weeks pregnant..I feel NO movement.
I felt movement with my first at 18 weeks, and my second at 14 weeks.
I have alot of painful braxton hicks contractions, and with those contractions I can tell that my uterus is to the middle of my belly button, so that is right around the 20 week mark.
I also have a fetal doppler, and the heart beat is there and strong, between 140-145.

I know im jusy worrying myself, But Do you think the placenta could be covering the front?

I have my ultrasound the 1st of june, and im seeing my doctor the 4th of june, I cant wait!

Please no critics..only answer the specific question.
People who have had Placenta Previa preferred.

Thank you.
