When I went to my prenatal appointment my doctor was not able to pick up my baby’s heartbeat on the Doppler at 11 weeks. She told me not to worry that it was still too soon to hear anything. I have had a miscarriage before and the fact that nothing was heard on the Doppler is driving me insane. I am scheduled for my first ultrasound on Thursday which is the same day I turn 12 weeks. Has anyone has been in a similar situation?

I’m thinking about buying a regular stethoscope or a fetal stethoscope and wanted to know if anyone else has done so while pregnant and how early they were able to hear the baby’s heartbeat, at home.

each time i use it i have tiny "stretching" cramping for a few minutes afterwards. I made sure not to push down too hard at all. It makes me scared to use it. Anyone else have the same thing? What do you think is going on? Maybe am i feeling my baby move away from the doppler and its just painful?
oh - i hear the heartbeat just fine. baby seems fine
And i love the sound! im just worried..

I have a fetal heartbeat doppler, and I was wondering how far along I needed to be in order to hear or detect the baby’s heartbeat with it. It is 3.0 mhz and it has a digital screen that shows the heartrate. It just came to me today and I wasn’t expecting it for another few weeks. I am about 8 weeks pregnant. I was curious, so I decided to try it, but I have no idea what I heard or saw on the display screen. I did detect a heartbeat that was 160 something, but it didn’t last very long. Once I heart the sounds of a heart beating but it appeared to be slower than the rate that was displayed. The 160 something readings that I got didn’t last long. I honestly don’t know if I detected the baby’s heartbeat or what. I know my heart doesn’t beat at 160 or so beats LOL. What do you all think?? Thanks.

I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant and my doctor was able to pick up on the fetal heartbeat.
I was hoping to buy or rent one from somewhere in Cape Cod that works well and that will pick up on the heartbeat. My mom, nor my boyfriend have heard the heartbeat, and they’d like to, but are both too busy to accompany me to doctors appointments.
I know they sell them at Babies ‘R’ Us, but do they work well, or are they junk?
Please help!
Thanks!!!

I was wondering, how early can you detect a fetal heartbeat with a fetal doppler NOT an ultrasound? Let me know how early you may have detected it.

I have been using our fetal doppler since I was 9 weeks pregnant and have been able to find the hb easily enough within 5 minutes of trying. This morning, atfer emptying my bladder, but on an empty stomach, I tried and could not find it. I tried for like 20 minutes, and nothing. I’m worried, because I had a missed miscarriage previously, where we went for an u/s and there wasn’t a hb.
Is this normal? Could it be because I had an empty bladder and stomach?
I am now 12 weeks. Yes, I did hear the babys heartbeat @ 9 weeks, my family doctor found it at my appointment. I can also differentiate the difference between the heartbeat and my own pulse-very different.
Sorry, forgot to add, no cramping or spotting at all.

rate. Anyone else have this problem?
No I bought a nice one for 5 like they use in the doctors office. The baby sounds like it’s doing flips and I can’t catch it at all.

I’d like to have one for then future when I go see my fiancé in another state. He won’t be able to hear to heart beat or go to any appointments so I thought this would be a great idea. Or even renting.

The second time I looked for it, it was in a different place lol Does that mean he moved? Cause I couldnt find it at all in the place that I had first found it!
I got it from BabyBeat.com …They have great, affordable dopplers you can rent. They work too!

I know the ones you buy at places such as target and walmart are crap and don’t work. The fetal doppler systems are the ones doctors use, so I know I could hear the heartbeat at 13 weeks. I suffered through a threatened miscarriage friday and I need to know if everything is still ok before my doctor’s appt, so renting one online is not an option at this moment because by the time it would come in the mail I would have had my ultrasound.
So does anyone know where I can rent these things in a real store?
