what am i hearing on my fetal doppler?

hi, im 22 weeks pregnant and i received my fetal doppler today, iv used it 3 times already but im very confused as to what im hearing.
i have heard my own heartbeat but when it comes to hearing the baby’s h/b it does not stay steady, for e.g for a few seconds it displays 128, 129 and then it goes blank and again displays 160, 162. i even got a display of 240 which stayed steady for about 2-3 seconds.
is this the baby’s heart rate that im hearing or could it be interference from my digestive system or something as im really confused.

thank you in advance

I rented a fetal doppler about 3-4 weeks ago. Even though I am constant prayer and have faith that all will be okay, it provides reassurance when I am able to come home each day and here my baby’s heart beating away.

My next appointment isn’t until September 21st. I will be 19 weeks and 1 day and will find out what I’m having, as well as how the baby is doing. My last appointmentw as on September 2nd and I was 16 weeks and 3 days. The heartbeat was 153.

If I’m hearing a hearbeat at home (I have one without a heartrate display), and can hear the heartbeat, is that a good indication that everything is okay? Would a baby with down syndrome or missing kidneys have a strong heartbeat?

I really try not to think negative but I have moments where I freak out and this is one of them. :)

I bought a fetal doppler but it’s confusing me?

I bought a babymad babysounds fetal doppler on amazon and I thought it was OK for the first day or so but then for some reason started to get confused. It’s so hard to tell the difference between my heartbeat and the baby’s as it has no LCD screen. Today I tried very hard to find the baby’s heartbeat but felt nothing. I had an app with the midwife today who found it almost straight away.

I was told that the heartbeat of a baby is mean’t to sound like a ‘galloping horse’ but myne often sounds like that too!

The midwife suggested I send it back but I was silly and lost some of the packaging and guarentee.

I am 18 weeks pregnant on Thursday.

Has anyone hired a fetal doppler?

hello ladies,

just wondering if anyone has hired a fetal doppler ? where did you hire it from? how much was it per month
and how accurate is it? when was the earliest you can hear the heartbeat from?

Hi there! Sorry, this isn’t really a question, but it’s not exactly spam either so I hope no one decides to be lame and report me because I couldn’t think of any other way to let you all know about this: My sister gave me a fetal doppler last night, she got it for from a medical supply store and it can pick up the heartbeat as early as 12 weeks! I am 24 weeks currently and I was able to find it immediately!

I just wanted to share this because I have seen a TON of questions about fetal dopplers on here, mostly wanting to know if the ones from Wal-Mart work (they don’t), and if there is a way to get one that DOES work that’s not hundreds of dollars. So there ya go, if you know of a medical supply store around you, go check it out! The brand of mine is Baby Sound, it’s portable, battery powered and you need headphones.

I guess I kinda do have a question: How often can I use it? I’m not exactly sure what it does but is it bad for the baby to use it too often?
My sister used to work in a baby store of some kind, but she’s not a medical professional or anything.

Using a Fetal Doppler at 11 weeks. . .?

Hello! So I am now 11 weeks pregnant, i picked up the fetal heartbeart at 9 weeks and 5 days…. It is very fast at 175 which I know is normal in a 10 week fetus. My question was where should I be finding the heartbeat? On my instructions it says it can SOMETIMES be found at 10 weeks earliest, and that to find it you have to have a full bladder and put the doppler at the very bottom of your abdomen and point it down behind your pubic bone… I have been finding the heartbeat slightly on the left side about 2 or 3 inches above the bottom of my abdomen not pointing down if that makes sense?! Sory for long confusing question! So does this mean I am further along or something? Thanks!

Where can I find a semi cheap Fetal Doppler?

Something i can buy not rent… please… Thanks :)

the baby is alive and well according to all scans and recent checks, but my fetal doppler at home (the kind I strap on and listen throguh head phones) still isn’t picking up the heart beat! I can hear the baby moving but no heart beat! Why is this so?- when other women hear it as early as 10 weeks!?
Also, is it normal to hear LOTS of activity in your tummy region and odd bumpss from baby?
I just said I HAVE seen my doctor. They can pick it up, my at home doppler can’t. Gee I’ll bet I have to wait till 20 weeks or something ridiculous.

Are they good and easy to use??

How long did it take you to get yours??

i just ordered mine yesterday. I got the /month.
I am 12 weeks!

Angelsounds fetal doppler?

Hi,
I am 14 weeks and just brought a angelsounds fetal doppler. I found what I think is the heartbeat but not sure its more like a constant swosh, swosh, swosh beat more so then a thud, thud thud and is faster then my heart beat. I can also hear other noises like swirls, thuds and sucking noises. Are these the noises of my baby or not? I am totally freaking out as I have had two early miscarriages and I am scared that my baby’s has died without me knowing it. My next obgyn appointment isn’t until another 3 weeks.

Erratic numbers on fetal doppler?

I’m 12 weeks pregnant and bought a medical grade fetal doppler with the LCD screen to tell me BPM. The first time I used it i got a steady 165 and heard the heartbeat loud and clear.

but for the past few days i’ve tried and tried and can’t seem to pick the heartbeat up. I’m getting numbers anywhere from 80 to 180 and I can only hear static, not a steady loud heartbeat like before.

Why did i only get 1 good reading out of this doppler? Whats up with the erratic numbers??

BabyBeat Fetal Doppler Rental?

I will be 20 weeks pregnant on wed. and I haven’t felt distinct kicks yet, I had an ultrasound last week everything looked great and my Dr. told me since this was my first not to be discouraged…I have a angelsounds heart monitor and from what I hear they suck, for my own reassuarance I wanted to rent a fetal doppler from Babybeat until I can feel regular kicks, it looks just like the one they use @ my dr. Has anyone tried these? Do they work? I don’t want to waste money or worry myself anymore then needed

Home fetal doppler question?

I purchased a home fetal doppler machine last week and heard have been able to hear my baby from the first day I used it. I am currently 14 weeks. I always find it very low (right above my pubic hair) and it is always very fast. My question is, every time I listen to it, after a few seconds I hear this loud noise that repeats itself randomly. I’m not sure what it is. It is the same noise that the machine would make if I were flipping the receiver. It is very loud and hurts my ears! Is that the baby moving or could it be hiccups? This is my first baby and I haven’t felt it move yet so I don’t feel anything when I hear these noises. I’m sure there’s nothing wrong, I’m just curious if anyone else out there has experienced this. Thanks in advance!

Because I have no experience and never heard the heartbeat before I lost my first pregnancy, I am wondering if there is anything else that would beat as fast as a baby’s heart when listening through a fetal doppler. I have a 3 mhz model which has a wider but shallower beam, and I am 9 weeks 5 days along. I was able to first hear what I think is the heart at 9 weeks 3 days after first hearing my heart a gabillion times. I chanced across this faint gallop of a noise that, when picked up clear enough, was measuring out to about 170 per minute. A friend of mine said that it might be the placenta, but wouldn’t the placenta have a slower beat much like the mother? I am pretty sure that this "da dunk, da dunk, da dunk" is much different than my own "woosh, woosh, woosh." Am I right?

Fetal doppler monitor rental safety?

I had a miscarriage in June and am now pregnant and 13 weeks pregnant. I recently rented a digital fetal monitor and love it because I can hear my baby’s heart beat and get the rate each day. After reading some things, I’m wondering if this is safe to use each day. Most of the literature out there says it is, but then people on here say it’s like a helicopter hoovering over the baby. Anyone know the truth about this? Thanks!

fetal doppler question?

Hello i a 16 weeks pregnant tomorrow,
i bought a an Angel sounds fetal doppler and cannot find the heart beat.
lol staying positive was wondering if any one can give me some advice on finding it.
eg could it be cause the little one is active
also after a while the womb does move up,
so i don’t want to sound dumb but where about would the baby most likely to be.
OH and importantly how fast should the heart beat be so i can distinguish it from my own.
ps have read instructions and it did not say much at all.

Thanks. x
lol i am using the gel that came with it.
just thought to add before i got pregnant i was a uk size 8-10 i am already starting to show.

Do you have to be 10 weeks before they work? Do they work well? What should I look for in one and who should I rent from?

My last pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage. There is this pain in my belly Dr.’s weren’t able to figure out. My Dr. does not think it had anything to do with the miscarriage. Plus, it was at 9 weeks that we noticed and I’ve passed that point. However, it hurts still and makes me nervous. So, I want to purchase a fetal doppler so I can hear the heartbeat to ease my mind. A good one like the Dr’s use. Not the Walmart kind. I found one for and renting one with shipping is like . It makes no sense to rent. But is that crazy?
I’ve heard the heartbeat 2 times at the Dr’s.

Babybeat.com fetal doppler rental question?

Hi, I’m 26 weeks and I rented a fetal Doppler from babybeat.com today. It was for a 3 month period of .00 a month and the model was a BB100. Has anyone rented from them before? I got the cheapest one but it seems like it will work fine I just was curious to see if anyone else has rented from there and if you had the same model how well does yours work?

Fetal doppler?

I borrowed the ‘baby beets fetal doppler’ from my friend who has just had her 4th baby, i am preg with my 4th at 17wks now. the doppler didnt pick up anything but my midwife can. all i get is static sounds. My friend said she didnt have a problem and detected at 14wks.
after reading on the internet that this doppler may not have a proper certificate, i bought a BF-500. should be delivered tomorrow.
although its high ratings and many health professionals use it, has anyone here used it before? and what was the outcome?

thanks for answers
Its not stressing me out at all, i mainly bought one so my hubby and kids can hear whats inside me instead of wondering why i am getting big and fat!!

I’ve just been listening to my baby’s heartbeat. I just want to know if its possible to pick my baby’s heartbeat up in 2 different places? One low down on right side of abdomin and just off to the left of my belly button? Thanks in advance. x
Its definately not my heartbeat. Mine is much slower.
